Question for the judges: are we allowed to include a map?

Hahaha... I love it. Well played, judges. Well played.

Beautiful. Can't wait. It'll be nice to have another shot at Wicht. :D Last time we squared off was on a Derelict Bridge... http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?338164-IRON-DM-2013-Entries-Judgements-Commentary-amp-Trash-Talk/page3

Scheduling Thread for IRON DM 2014

I don't want to rush things along, but I have an excellent 48-hour window of opportunity starting around 5 or 6 pm on Sunday (Pacific time). If it's much later than that, things will collide with my work and game schedule. :)

    IRON DM 2014 Tournament

You see a figure sitting in a tall-backed chair. The dark room is lit only by the glow of monitors, offering a brief silhouette of a villainous shape, his metal claw tapping the F5 key to see who his competition will be.

D&D 5E (2014) how to run long distance travelling without it sucking

So long as you use that sparingly... If the ranger is never able to be a capable woodlands guide like they're supposed to be, it makes the player feel like a chump. How would it have looked if Strider got lost half the time?

    D&D 5E (2014) Ahhh: Level Two

I nearly killed a PC in my 17th level game the other night. The session before, my buddy nearly TPK'ed us. PC deaths can happen at any level. :)

    IRON DM 2014 Tournament

I think it would have, yes. Hah. So, how did I come up with Queen Under The Stars? I saw several versions of the adventure evolve and be tweaked or discarded. Early on, I decided the astronomer would be a demigoddess, who would use her ring to grant immortality to whoever became her husband...

    IRON DM 2014 Tournament

Gradine, it was an honor to compete with you. Yours was an excellent adventure, and I could definitely see it being great fun to play at the table. As always, the caliber of the competition in these events is very high; I don't think I've seen a poor entry yet. These have all been top notch...

We could probably come up with some random elements by rolling on the Wild Magic table and the 100 trinkets table, with a roll on one of the DMG tables to spice things up. :)

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E Book Page Numbers

I'm in the same boat; the page numbers are a challenge to read. It's probably the only thing I dislike about these new books.

Oh man, Wicht vs Waylander? A clash of titans!

    D&D 5E (2014) What is Over-Powered?

A lot of what seems to be overpowered tends to only come out, at my table, in the hands of players who are mechanically savvy. The sort of players who end up with powerful PCs every single time because they have a good grasp of the mechanics and how they synergize. There have not been any game...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Lichway - IC Thread

Javier, wounded from the battle, had begun to tear a strip from his ratty cloak to tie around the wound. He was back to chewing that bit of leather, but otherwise said nothing.

    D&D 5E (2014) Actively Evil PCs & a Pirate Sandbox?

A good theme for a pirate game is the encroachment of law and order upon the seas. Armadas of ships, each with mages and soldiers begin to patrol the shipping lanes. Pirate hunters (a.k.a. colorful NPC foes) begin to hunt down the PCs. A military commander for a prominent nation swears to put...

    D&D 5E (2014) The D&D Gauntlet

Sounds like a fun game. This does seem like the sort of campaign idea that would function best at lower levels. I'm curious how you plan to handle high level PCs and abilities like 'plane shift' and 'wish'. Of course, perhaps this is a planar arena, where gods come to watch mortals become...

    D&D 5E (2014) Actively Evil PCs & a Pirate Sandbox?

You know, you seem to have a pretty good grasp of how your players play as evil characters. Many DMs, running this sort of thing for the first time, have a bit of a freak-out when they see their players perpetrating awful acts, so you have a leg up on that. Also, you have a good sense of...

D&D 5E (2014) The Rise of Tiamat without playing HotDQ before

I'm just about finished running my group through Rise of Tiamat. We jumped right in at the start of the adventure (it had been sent to us as a playtest adventure), and had no problems getting right into it.

    Traveller Thoughts?

I've only ever played Mongoose, and it's decent. I love the character creation, but like others have said, the mechanics of the actual game are a little creaky. Traveller, I've discovered is too 'hard' on the sci-fi scale for my tastes. I want more aerial starfighter dogfighting. :)

    IRON DM 2014 Tournament

Gradine... I love your heist. It feels very 'Lies of Locke Lamora' inspired, with the ships and the vaults and cultured society. Nicely done.
