    D&D 5E (2014) I have the DMG!

OP, I'd like to know if there are any rules for calling outsiders? I don't mean the summoning spells from the PH, but actual conjuring; magic circles, true names, things of that nature. Also, are there rules for creating your own spells?

    D&D 5E (2014) Bounded accurancy and skills

That would rub me the wrong way, were I the player who asked. I get that 5e is all about "putting the power back in the DM's hands," but flat out telling me I have no reasonable chance of even hearing about a creature (unless it is an entirely unique creature) strikes me as a little...

    D&D 5E (2014) TIME STOP SPELL (9º)

Well, you have to keep in mind that there's a period of unlearning happening; many of the old classics have been nerfed or diminished by rules changes. Time Stop used to be one of the most powerful combat spells; as it should be, considering it's 9th level. Now, however, it is practically...

    D&D 5E (2014) Sorcerer spell selection

I think they get one: Enhance Ability.

D&D 5E (2014) I Am SO Over The "Rootless Vagabond" Archetype

In all of my years of gaming, both as a player and as a DM, I've never experienced the problem of "Rootless Vagabonds." Mainly because the players don't exist in a vacuum. They may start out with no living relatives and no friends, but that changes as the game goes by. Soon, you have a party...

    Aeon (updated 10/9/14)

This makes me very happy. :D

    D&D 5E (2014) Likes and Dislikes?

Like: Backgrounds, the Advantage and Disadvantage system, and the classes (minus Ranger and Warlock) Dislike: The massive nerfing of magic, Legendary Resistance, and the inability to learn new skills outside of feats or multiclassing.

D&D 5E (2014) MM: How many high levels monsters have some form of magic resistance?

Heh, I'm playing a diviner. But the adventure we've been doing makes it very difficult to play to a diviner's strengths; we been in a rather brutal hack and slash fest, with literally no chance to rest in a town, get supplies, or anything like that; we woke up in a dungeon full of zombies, and...

D&D 5E (2014) MM: How many high levels monsters have some form of magic resistance?

Perhaps your experience differs from mine, because all my fireballs have done is tickle the foes we've been facing; at least half of each group of baddies I fireball make they're saves, and with a pitiful average of 24 points, that comes out to around 12. I don't believe that as we go up in...

D&D 5E (2014) MM: How many high levels monsters have some form of magic resistance?

I think the one thing that bothers me about *any* conversation dealing with caster nerfing is the assumption that every player is trying to "steal the spot light" and "end the encounter in one round." Frankly, it's rather irksome that every time I bring up an aspect of the new casting system I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Protecting Spellbooks

I'm planning on converting some of the classic protection spells to 5e; I noticed the lack of defensive spells immediately.

D&D 5E (2014) MM: How many high levels monsters have some form of magic resistance?

So from the looks of things, my wizard (assuming he reaches high levels) will be relying mostly on passive buffs rather than direct effects, since magic will prove to be rather ineffective against the majority of high end monsters... Yay.

D&D 5E (2014) Video of guys in plate mail as reference for you!

About 6 years ago, there was an absolutely fascinating thread about this sort of subject: http://www.enworld.org/forum/showthread.php?242110-History-Mythology-Art-and-RPGs I'm uncertain if I'm linking it correctly or not. :/

    D&D 5E (2014) Sell me on Wizards

I agree. I've read plenty of theorycraft threads and speeches about how bounded accuracy is great, but I have yet to hear any actual experiencing playing the class. I've just hit 6th level as a wizard, and thus far, I'm unimpressed.

    D&D 5E (2014) What's a wizard to do?

Hmmm, perhaps I just have awful luck. Because thus far, most of my spells have been in the "you kinda suck" range. Between low roles for effects like sleep and burning hands, to constant successful saves from enemies, I feel that the wizard is...bad. But then, I'm sure it's probably...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's a wizard to do?

I get that. I mean, I understand why they did it that way, but it still leaves me with one important question: if the wizards main function is to cast spells, and all of those spells are not very effective at fulfilling whatever purpose they were designed for, then what exactly is the wizard...

    D&D 5E (2014) What's a wizard to do?

So, I've been playing a human wizard (diviner) in my DM's homebrew setting. Thus far, we've been having a lot of fun with 5e, but I'm growing a bit concerned as we level up and I become more familiar with the rules and spells. I'm honestly at a lose as to what wizards are good for. In past...

D&D 3.x What spells got the greatest buff from 3e to 5e?

At the risk of sounding like a troll (I'm not trying to, believe me) I honestly don't feel that any of the spells got a boost in 5e. The attack spells start out strong, but loose their bite once you have to spend higher slots to cast them. There are some fun new spells that I like, such as the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Magic Item Costs in 5E

This. I like the idea of questing/searching for rare items, combined with the right spells to create a magic item. What I don't want to see is what they did in 2e, which took the concept and blew it waaaayy out of proportion; I'm not spending a 2 years of real life game time to make a +1...

D&D 5E (2014) I'm just sayin', the concentration mechanic makes it WAY easier to balance spells

I disagree. I'd rather they had buffed the non-casters instead of just slapping down the magic users with garbage restrictions.
