How come no one made these WoW complaints when Eberron came out and the artificer class had rules for breaking down a magic item and making new items out of the magic you salvage from it? Oh yeah, because that was before WoW launched... *headdesk*

That's not really a problem. He may not have any particular use for the gold, but having it isn't making things any less fun for him. On the other hand, if the player who's interested in nationbuilding has to make his PC severely underpowered by the party's standards in order to nationbuild...

So, use their ideas about disallowing the sale/purchase of magic items. Then money can be reserved exclusively for ale and whores, as it should be.

The old one is bland, but the new one is kinda goofy-looking. It's probably that grumpy face. Though the "slouched on the sofa eating chips" pose of its torso and head doesn't help either. I guess I'm hard to please, art-wise. ^^;

The paladin's encounter smite doesn't do anything except damage, though. I think Sweeping Strike just has lower damage because its special effect is deemed powerful enough to compensate... after all, the dwarf gets an encounter power at level 3 that does 2W damage but doesn't have a special...

I don't think monks should be classed as divine because, even though monasticism is generally a religious thing, the kind of kung-fu monk archetype the D&D class has always been based on is not seen as getting its power from a god or gods. A character can be religious without being granted...

Martial isn't just the strength of the body, though. Warlords' tactical and inspirational powers are based on intellect and social influence, but they're still martial. And I wouldn't really call ki soul-based, if it's anything like real-world conceptions of ki.

Maybe humans only get one floating +2?

Oops... I'd forgotten that the human cleric also had Cause Fear, somehow. Looks like it, since they apparently forgot to give the half-elf its cross-class power. :)

That, or Str + Con + 2. Weren't hammers supposed to get Con-based benefits? Um, look at Healing Word. Clerics never have to punch things to heal people. edit: I'm bad at reading character sheets! Ignore this part, please. So, half-elves: it looks like this half-elf took an extra cleric...

If you mark the enemy to do damage to it, then the "real" defender can't mark it, which limits their ability to keep it away from you. (Though maybe not by much in the case of a fighter.)

I would say that a two-weapon defender is just a sword-and-shield defender with a smaller, pointier shield. (In real combat, the difference between a shield and an off-hand weapon is not so big as RPGs would have us believe.)

Don't blame the crappy magic system on Vance! Gygax's magic system is way different than anything seen in any Vance story, and besides, Vance never intended it to be used for games. (It works a lot better in stories, where a single author chooses both the spells prepared and the challenges...

I dunno, I really can't see the Raven Queen granting radiance-based powers... :) I'm disappointed that they didn't go further with the radiance thing, actually. Changing turn undead to a radiant-type damage spell that can be used on anyone but has extra effects on undead would've been neat...

Also remember that a lot of the "swiss army knife" aspect of spellcasting is now covered by rituals. How many rituals you know is limited by in-game acquisition rather than a fixed number known per level, just like wizards adding to their spellbook in 3.x, and most uses of magic that aren't...
