The Shared Experience: Keep on the Borderlands

I voted '80-'83, and we played Borderlands then, but we also ran it recently as C&C earlier this year. Btw, why is this a 4E thread?

The Great Glut of Gaming Guides at "Go away" prices...

I'm not a lawyer, but I was under the impression that reducing prices on backstock inventory to reduce the tax was considered a tax dodge, and not allowed.

The Great Glut of Gaming Guides at "Go away" prices...

*sigh* I've said this so many times, but the FLGS does not have the ability to deep discount those books. For most of them, the price generally reflects what they truly paid for it. Paid. Money is gone. The books can't be returned for credit and reissued to them as remainders. If they mark the...

What format do you prefer for the gaming material you use?

I collect my books in both print and pdf format. But I vastly prefer print. I keep the pdfs for backup, and quick printing of single pages, and I tote them to every game as a "virtual" on demand library that very rarely gets used. But when it gets down to the serious business of actual play, or...

Save the Goblin, Kill your Friend?

The game is about teamwork, and roleplaying, but team play comes first. What you were doing was disruptive and selfish, strictly about your character and his story, and you were willing to force it on the other players and the players' characters. And unapologetic about it to boot. Nope. You...

So what's the next book to be released in the "Complete" series?

Maybe a trusted third party publisher has picked up the rights to finish the Complete series. Like, possibly, Kenzer & Co., or perhaps Sovereign Press. You never can know.

    Rules Compendium excerpt

I haven't followed the news regarding The Rules Compendium. I did not realise that it consisted of reprints. I assumed that there were going to be some revisions, or at least some clean ups. There was some hope that this may be the last WotC 3.x book I might buy, but if that is the case, it has...

Does this mean I have to stop referring to Gary Gygax as a power-gaming munchkin? :heh:

If we all rolled the normal way for stats, how come he has three 18's?

My gosh, I haven't had a natural 18 in a stat since 2003. I've gotten there with Racial adjustments, but not naturally. And to be honest, if I rolled up a character with three 18's I'd probably toss it out as unplayable. In all the games I play in, the standard is 4d6, reroll the first one...

    Best WotC Books of 3.0/3.5?

Well, it's a hard question. There are a lot of books I am fond of, but only three I use with any kind of regularity, so I'll have to vote for: 1. The Players Handbook 3.5 2. The Dungeon Master's Guide 3.5 3. Unearthed Arcana. All right then, here's an edit, seeing that the core books are...

What other games do you play?

All I'm currently playing is Castles & Crusades. The DM and I keep talking about a sci-fi type campaign, and we've looked at Rifts, Dragonstar, and Helios Rising. I've been boning up on western themed games, but nothing is in the pipeline.

Cowboys and Aliens: Worlds at War

I will be... Bookmarked, now I just need to remember to look in once in a while. Just linked it over at the Kenzer boards. Maybe some folks there will like it too.

    Heroes of High Favor

I've got the books about Dwarves, Elves and Half-Orcs, but I've never seen the others. No, they don't cover demi-Elves. The books are nice, but pretty basic. And they are old, relatively. I've always thought the series was dead, with no updates in the pipeline, but I could be wrong. The ones I...
