Invincible RPG Kickstarter to Launch on September 23rd

I am pretty sure GB is the precursor to WEG's house system that became WEG Star Wars d6. But at least in that, you still added up the numbers. I don't think in GB you counted successes.

Name an TTRPG You Really Like But Have Never Played/GMed

Sure. I'm not a cop. I did not even know there was a 1str edition of a FF TTRPG.

Sure. You do you. Usually when folks post such things on a discussion board, tho, I assume they want to, you know, discuss it. ;)

[PLEASE HALP!] 5-hour flight; what video game should I play?

Monster Train and Slay the Spire are great games to eat that kind of time, especially if you like deck builders.

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

I am not convinced that there IS a "mass market" for TTRPGs outside of D&D -- and that I basically attribute to inertia. RPGs are cool, fun games that lots of people are likely to try and maybe even stick with for a while. But I think the dedicated 40 year fan is the rarity. D&D is the kleenex...

Invincible RPG Kickstarter to Launch on September 23rd

Dice pools where you count successes (and failures) have bene around forever -- at least since Vampire: The Masquerade and very likely before (V;tM is where I recall seeing it first). I really like the Year Zero ENgine, but it never struck me as especially innovative, just solid.

But you haven't really given reasons, just a vague belief that it requires more from players than D&D -- despite, by your own admission, you not having played it (or even read it, it seems). I am not saying DH definitely has legs, but the reason you gave does not really exist.

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

I think DH does a lot of "5E things" better than 5E because it is not beholden to ancient design. It draws from many different games to try and do different aspects of play well. It has a little Fate in it and a little 4E in it and a little Genysys in it and a little PbtA. All of those different...

Name an TTRPG You Really Like But Have Never Played/GMed

Sometimes, you buy a game because it has a great look or is a genre or subject matter you like, or some other reason OTHER than to play or run it. Or, you meant to play or run it, but it never happened, but you still really like the game. What game is that for you? Did you mean to play/run it...

    Acquisitions Inc. switching to Daggerheart

It doesn't really, though. It doesn't ask anything more of players than 5E does, except some extra attention during combat and to count a couple extra resources. The narrative elements are almost completely optional. No one ever has to "yes and" in DH if that group doesn't want to. It isn't a...

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

It occurs to me that Alien: Earth is solidly cyberpunk.

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

This sounds like a problem born of players living in a society where corproations are too often considered good guys, or at least part of the establishment. Corporations rule instead of governments, but most players still end up towing the line. The boss is just different. I have never played a...

    General video game discussion

I tried to get back into Cyberpunk 2077 but it did not take, so now I am back in the Commonwealth crafting guns and sniping super mutants.

    Genre Discussion: Cyberpunk

The problem with Edgerunners is that it leans so heavily into its anime tropes that it stops being a decent CP2077 story. There is nothing in CP2077 that looks like the latter half of Edgerunners, so while it might be good anime cyberpunk on its own, it isn't good Cybrpunk 2077/.
