    D&D 5E (2014) Perception vs Investigation

I would say that if you are occupied doing something that requires a skill check, you are at a disadvantage (or possibly, your opponents are at an advantage). Giving someone no chance to detect an incoming attack is something I would reserve for flying, invisible, silenced opponents. ;) The PC...

    D&D 5E (2014) The 5E Art is Awesome

A good point. A complete scene instead of a character in a white room. Helps a lot when it comes to trigger the imagination.

    D&D 5E (2014) The 5E Art is Awesome

I really like the 5e art. Same vibe as the art in 2e, but the women usually have normal amounts of clothes/armor.

D&D 5E (2014) Why is WOTC so awful at providing digital content?

No they aren't. Just look at what happened to their first attempt at this for 5e. It got cancelled.

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you change a monster's hit points mid-fight?

I do the same. A good thing too, or one of the players getting critted twice in the first round of combat in one of the fights would probably have been even more annoyed. :D

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you change a monster's hit points mid-fight?

Well, I did a comment at the end saying: " I am fine with fudging if you cleared the fudging with your players in advance. It's more of a play style thing, even if I think less fudging is better."

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you change a monster's hit points mid-fight?

I don't really think this is true. I do think you have some good points, but look at your example. The PC's just assumed the guy was the good guy and did his bidding. Let's say the PC's are of a suspicious nature and did some investigation to find if the NPC was trustworthy. If you generated...

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you change a monster's hit points mid-fight?

The thing is that you have sooo many other ways of cutting an encounter short that doesn't rely on fudging. You can for instance have the monster flee or surrender, or have a dragon allied with the monsters appear and then the PC's might fly. You can also just sum up the encounter like you do...

    D&D 5E (2014) Do premade adventures save prep-time?

I mainly use published adventures so I don't have to come up with everything myself. I am not that kind of creative. Running a published adventure, I basically have two ways of running it: a) as written. b) de-constructed and remade. Option a) is obviously the least work. It generally isn't...

    No, Diablo 2 :)

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you change a monster's hit points mid-fight?

Some good points here, and were you write that you think my assumption is incorrect, I think you are right. I do think that if you are in a situation where you want to end a combat, the way isn't to fudge, but to just say something in the lines of: "And then you mop up the remaining forces". I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you change a monster's hit points mid-fight?

You are criticism is valid, my statements where hyperbolic ;)

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you change a monster's hit points mid-fight?

I think that if you have to fudge so little that it can't ever be detected, there is a good chance you don't need to fudge at all. Remember, you only have to be noticed once while fudging, to make all your actions suspect. I don't like pen and paper rpg games where the story is something the DM...

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you change a monster's hit points mid-fight?

This is not at all what I am saying. What I am saying is that I am trying to let the PCs actions really affect the game, even if it's not going where I planned. It isn't about cheating, but letting the game have in-game consequences. If I have messed up an encounter and haven't given good...

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you change a monster's hit points mid-fight?

I don't fudge dice. Mostly because I roll in the open. I quite often WANT to fudge the dice, mostly because I don't want to kill a character. Not only am I rolling in the open, but I keep the sheet with the monster hp in the open as well. Keeps me from cheating there too. Now, I do think my...

D&D 5E (2014) Princes of the Apocalypse - What I learned from the Encounters PDF (spoilers)

Usually, I don't like mega-adventures/adventure paths, but this one actually looks to be good enough to buy/run anyway. I ran Red Hand of Doom, and it was fun.

D&D 5E (2014) Do you feel like the "Sorcerer" is really lacking in options?

I have had some weird sessions with very few players/characters. One of those session only had two players, one playing a sorcerer and the other a rogue. This showcased the flexibility of the sorcerer, as the player could use metamagic to cast his sleep spell silently after the rogue had scouted...

    D&D 5E (2014) Roll20's RNG - or Evil Electronic Dice Gods?

I did something similar in my 4e game, but with my usual dice, rolling openly in front of the players. One of the players then gave me a new dice, and I kept rolling high. Random is random and random might be rolling 20 several times in a row. ;)

D&D 5E (2014) What separates a sandbox adventure from an AP?

I think this could have been fixed with a map with 2-3 line callouts. It's awkward having to flip back and forth between the map key and the map. Otherwise, I think they did an ok job of it. All the NPCs are basically described in 2-3 pages of text.
