    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

There is no evidence in the rules that PC are special in this sense. Apes has 16 instead of 10 exactly for the same reason Orc has +2 STR. And is perfectly coherent with the assumption of the physics of the game world. So, again: why ASI is bad?

And this is true for many other races, so, why get the rid of ASI?

So, bring you consideration to the end point: why no dispute on food rate and a dispute on ASI?

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED IN THE RULES. This is the difference between REALISM (that nobody wants) and INTERNAL COHERENCE that we, accused to be against the change or conspirationist (not to say worst like racist, insensible etc) like to be preserved. As I said: as long as you can put ASI where...

Do you know the difference between realism and internal coherence?

I believe it is quite clear in my post that i'm not prejudicially against any change. I only stress the fact that pushing the rules beyond the boundary of logic can give some difficulty in coherence side. Don't know why you have this attitude. Need to friction at any cost?

Assuming that it is an improvement and assuming that the price you pay is conscious as I previously said.

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

Ok but... try to be honest. Is clear that the ASI and the races in PHB are largely built around tolkien heritage. There is nothing wrong to feel comfortable with this kind of construction. And there is nothing wrong to want a more flexible game. But the price you pay (and if you want to pay it...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

Unfortunately for your idea, there are a lot of coincidence in timing between this operation and the mood around in society to ignore it. But maybe I'm a foolish conspiracy theorist . We both don't have ultimate proof of our different idea so I suggest to close this topic.

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

I agree with you that if the game still allows me to put ASI in realistic and coherent way there is nothing wrong in free ASI from race.

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

And why? it still will depend on your setting. In LOTR world Elves are superior to numenorean and numenorean are superior to humans. Hobbits are weaker than humans and humans are weaker than ents. Tolkien was racist or stupid for this? Maybe it is good to remove racial differences in a generic...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

If you can still assign an ASI in coherence of how a race is depicted, well this is not a great problem. If you remove ASI and any other race related bonus/malus from game at all, well it is difficult to understand the need to have races.

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

And you seem to believe that the real reason to remove "medium orc is stronger than medium halfling" is for what? For realism? i doubt it giving the origin of the halflings (hobbit) and an evident difference in physical complexion. To give DM an opportunity to build a world in which the more...

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

My 2 cents: describe ASI as Cultural is wrong, at least for initial STR, DEX and CON both in the game that out of it. remove ASI related to race is not wrong nor right, it is simply remove genetic differences between races. Definition of INT, WIS and CHA are problematic so it could be...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Needs New Settings

My hope is they make very high quality adventures possibly setting agnostic OR they make very high quality adventures that ends up in creating a setting like what has happened in IA6 Ravenloft.

Cutting any slippery slope argument as intrinsecally fallacious will lead to ignore any non fallacious slippery slope argument. Slippery slope squared! o_O:ROFLMAO:

If in CM we will see Vistani, all our hopes to see Ravenloft CS or AP will be abandoned. Personallyif they do Innistrad and not Ravenloft I will be VERY UPSET.

    D&D 5E (2014) Unearthed Arcana: Gothic Lineages & New Race/Culture Distinction

It's very difficult to me to consider Ability Score Increase as CULTURAL. I strongly believe it is physiological. These are aberration of common sense twisted to... ok I stop myself. But truth is more important than... ok stop.
