    Illusion Power Inconsistencies

Lately it has struck me at least once per day that there seems to be a lack of pedantic faultfinders at WotC. I am not joking. Sceptics who enjoy looking for holes, mistakes and faults are invaluable in creative processes - as they stop all those yay-sayers from making costly mistakes.

What kind of PC game do you want from 4E?

Turnbased preferably but decent pausable RT is ok. More important, I want it Obsidian-style - I can't see any other developer out there right now that would be able to make a game with enough flavour to please me. (See NWN2:MotB for an example of what I mean.)

Question about being Slowed and Double Moving

    2. At least the way I read it.

Starting Equipment for Higher Level Characters

I think this is a good solution. You will have ok stuff, but it is very likely that the things you find will be improvements right from the start.

    What happens to petrified characters?

That would lead to a tricky question: Are you allowed saving throws while petrified? I am not sure how conscious you are.

    What happens to petrified characters?

So... Make Whole (p 309) might work. Question is what it should cost?

    What happens to petrified characters?

Looking at Remove Affliction now, it is even better than the Cure Disease ritual. Lots of risk for the victim if you are not that great at Heal. I just love the feel of that ritual. (And Petrification is also better than it ever was...)

    What happens to petrified characters?

The ritual Remove Affliction can remove petrification, unless you mess up and kill the poor victim instead. On the other hand the victim has Resist 20 to everything and doesn't age while in that state. (PH p 277)

Question about being Slowed and Double Moving

I agree, that is how it is written. My counterexample where you take a minor action in the middle though would as written lead to that you can move 4 squares. That is why I would like errata that makes double move an optional choice, because it would help things make more sense.

Question about being Slowed and Double Moving

No. That only talks about what happens if you are interrupted while you are moving and the interruption causes you to be slowed.

A discussion of Keith Baker's post regarding the Skill Challenge system

Agreed. That is a very good tweak, and something I am sure going to use whenever it fits into any skill challenge I run. I hope that it somehow gets added to the rules. ;)

Question about being Slowed and Double Moving

But, like I wrote in my reply, if you move in two separate actions instead of taking a double move you will have speed 2 for each of them. What makes sense is to make the double move something optional for the creature, so that weird things like stopping to drink a potion in the middle doesn't...

Question about being Slowed and Double Moving

No. Can't shift in difficult terrain.

Question about being Slowed and Double Moving

Well, it is partly like that but not really - if I remember correctly. You can still double move if you are slowed, moving 2+2=4 squares. But if you try to run, the extra 2 squares you are trying to move per action don't get you anywhere. And in difficult terrain you effectively only move one...

A discussion of Keith Baker's post regarding the Skill Challenge system

First of all - I am not running Stalker0's system, as I think it is too far away from the written rules for me to use this early on. I agree with his math and analysis, but have another solution. So, not a church member here. Just someone who has similar opinions about a problem. Secondly, if...

A discussion of Keith Baker's post regarding the Skill Challenge system

One of these two: 1. You have not looked at the calculations behind this discussion, but feel certain that everyone has done the math wrong. 2. You don't know how to do probability calculations, but are sure that other people have it wrong. Which is it?

    Start with TWO 8's?

I would allow it, but not give any bonuses for it. I am generous like that. :)

A discussion of Keith Baker's post regarding the Skill Challenge system

This might seem really weird, and I understand if people don't agree with me. I don't think criticizing how skill challenges are described in the DMG has anything to do with criticizing 4th Edition. What the issue has been is not whether skill challenges are a good idea or not; just whether the...

What D&D can learn from spaghetti sauce

I like your analogy, and what you got out of it. I hope you don't mind if I run with it a bit? First of all: I have never, and I don't think I ever will, bought ready made spaghetti sauce. It is just too easy to make one yourself, that will be as spicy, chunky and different as you want it that...

Thanks for the link. That post actually put me at ease, weird as it may seem. At least temporarily. :)
