D&D 5E (2014) Descent into Avernus DM Screen

This is one of the best GF9 DM Screens so far, thanks to the panoramic 4-panel artwork (finally!) Ghosts of Saltmarsh had a very captivating cover artwork but at 2 panels only, it looked like a cheap Photoshop work. This is finally a majestic thing to buy and use, even after Avernus storyline.

    D&D 5E (2014) Reimagining racial ability scores

The idea has been explored months before D&DBeyond by DMDave.

    D&D 5E (2014) Saving throw to resist a grapple

The house rule would remove the opposed check from Grapple and exchange it with a skill check. The DC would not be considered a Shaving Throw even if its formula replicates a Saving Throw one. I am currently experimenting with the following change: The target resisting the grapple has the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Saving throw to resist a grapple

How do you handle advantage and disadvantage on the resisting target? Statements such as "you have advantage on checks to resist a grapple" would need to affect the DC, and although they can be converted to disadvantage to the grappler he may already have disadvantage from a different effect. I...

    D&D 5E (2014) Saving throw to resist a grapple

Is there a design intent behind this? The way I see it, because grapple is a precondition to other abilities and effects, the designers wanted everything to be graspable within reason, which includes a luck window of 19 rather than ~9.5. A luck window, modified by proficiency and few points of...

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5th edition too big for there to be a 6th edition?

Agreed and that is what we do in my little supplement.

D&D 5E (2024) Is 5th edition too big for there to be a 6th edition?

I completely agree. In fact, the balanced power level and design language of 5E allows to make 5E gritter and HEMA-authentic far easier than Pathfinder 1e or 2e. I know for a fact, since I do that as a main project.

Kickstarter GM Binder's First Kickstarter Update

As a homebrew author behind Grit and Glory, I can't thank you enough for creating GM Binder. I am spending over 3 to 6 hours there every single day, working on creations or reading someone else's great homebrews. It is the only supported 5E publishing tool for pixel-perfect layout dress, and...

    D&D 5E (2014) amazon.co.uk Descent in Avernus order "Estimated arrival date: October 12 2019 - October 14 2019"

This looks like to be major distribution issue, and may as well be related to Trump Tax ripple effect in logistics for printed in China, or similar issue. But EU LGS that works with Blackfire and Asmogee reports that there are major delays in Paizo and Wizards products among many others.

    How Expensive is Too Expensive?

Wizard of the Coast has also licensed premium-quality versions of their recent storylines. I think there's a market for this sort of products between DM who want to feel professional, and collectors. Most people don't need products of that level because the imagination is the main asset, not the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Failed House Rules

My solution to this is: You must be Exhaustion level 3 or higher for nat 1 on ability checks and attack rolls to count as critical fumble. You only fumble when exhaustion has hit you so hard you don't take even basic precautions such as holding your sword in a tight grip.

D&D General Here's What A 5' Square Actually Looks Like

The first thing my players asked, upon seeing this image, is why D&D doesn't clarify multiple characters standing in the same 5' x 5' space, such as back to back fighting, especially for denying flanking. Clearly, because of usage of miniatures, but that's not an answer to be given to...

D&D 5E (2014) Updated 5e Forgotten Realms map includes Saltmarsh

Thank you for this. It is a shame the Forgotten Realms map ofr 5E doesn't extend to include Moonsea and the Vast anymore, but still it is nice that the Sword Coast is being maintained as the plot progresses.
