Ah the glories of the lawful evil alignment.

Looking for an adventure involving the Resurection of a God

Dragon's 4e adventure path, "Scales of War," might be worth a read. During the epic tier, Bahamut is killed by Tiamat but later resurrected by the party. He left a shard of his being within one of his trusted followers and I believe she has to bring that shard to some sort of cosmic birthing...

The Dungeon Master: A short story in the New Yorker

I may be hopelessly out of touch with the mainstream. :)

The Dungeon Master: A short story in the New Yorker

Sam Lipsyte: “The Dungeon Master” : The New Yorker I thought people might be interested in this short story in the most recent issue of the New Yorker. It follows a group of high school kids tormented by their friend, a sadistic D&D Dungeon Master. I'm sure this will spark some interesting...

D&D 4E Comparing notes: Differences in play experience in 4e

See, I think of it as primarily a result of the widespread use of the character builder. Sure, you can make house rules, but unless they are very simple and easy to incorporate into the character builder power cards, feats, items, character sheet etc., they are a real pain in the butt to...

Looking for flavor/background for Vestige Pact Warlock

Actually that gives me an idea for a campaign-long adversary: the Quom. They are (according to The Plane Above) attempting to track down all the pieces of their dead patron god Lakal so that they can reassemble her. Unfortunately many pieces are embedded in magic items, locations and even living...

Summoner wizards..do they suck or is what I have heard wrong?

Actually there is an undead familiar called the, "spectre" available at heroic tier too. For paragon level you might want to multiclass to psion and take the "thrall herd" paragon path since it basically gives you a continuous zombie slave that you can have out at all times. Also there are a...

Looking for flavor/background for Vestige Pact Warlock

Dragon 381. Thank you! I hadn't considered the idea of making the pact with one being who had the power to offer me various vestiges depending on my needs. That is kind of cool.

    Non-essential Assassin; Opinions?

Besides the tiny HP, which people complain gets them knocked out continuously, they have a sort of backwards damage mechanic in the shrouds. To do serious damage you want to build up your shrouds, so the game encourages you to hold off on applying your striker mechanic. If you overestimate your...

Looking for flavor/background for Vestige Pact Warlock

Hmm, I considered that. It also fits with the fluff for the goliath race/society. I suppose that you could also think of devas as tapping into the abilities of it past incarnations. Thanks.

    No Character Builder Update

Actually Dragonborn already have a choice of two racial powers at creation and Tieflings have two or three (one of them might require a feat). In the character builder you just select the racial power. I imagine it will be the same with humans.

Looking for flavor/background for Vestige Pact Warlock

I've been meaning to play a Vestige-pact warlock ever since it came out in Arcane Power. I loved the binder class in 3.5e and I still love this idea. The problem is, that I always blank on a good character background. How does one come to make pacts with the spiritual remnants of gods...

Class power level vs. tactical mastery

I think rangers and rogues take little mastery of optimization methods to produce solid damage. They are just great right out of the box. If you do put time and effort into minx/max, you can actually produce game-breaking builds out of these two classes. You can do wonders with warlocks but you...

    Alexander Macris ruined everything

Hmm, yes, that exchange is amazingly civil and quite interesting. I am glad to see that he is willing to modify his position when presented with a well-reasoned argument. On the other hand, now I can't in good conscience say that he ruined everything.;)

    Alexander Macris ruined everything

It seems like a rather smug little defense of the original article: I swear I actually clicked on the "Mike Mearls Ruined Everything Thread" before I commented on it...I was, uh, just engaging in dry wit, yeah...guess you can't handle it. Oh and yeah...my tendentious account of 4e...well that...

Essentials Dice Set vs. Premium Dice = WTF?

Welcome to the forums. Please note that you will receive better feedback if you do not swear, use terms like "retarded," to describe things, or pepper your posts with flame bait (e.g. "WotC is evil!").

Heroes of the Fallen Lands analysis

Feinting trick is not awful if you have the feat, "flash of the blade." And unless you use daggers, you should. Also, we just learned on the character optimization board from WotC_Josh that human thieves can use their extra at-will slot to pick up a regular rogue at-will...

    Human Wizards wants a Longsword

Ok, There is a scales of war background called, "gritty sergeant" that gives you proficiency with one military weapon of your choice. That gives you longsword proficiency. Then you can take swordmage multiclass feat to use it with all your implement attacks. Take intelligent blademaster...

Gods, dead gods, and dominions: a list

I've updated the list with the five dead gods/goddesses described in Dragon 390. We know now that the unknown dead god bound to Erishani is actually Haramathur the god of guardians. We also know the name of one of Vecna's main strongholds: Citadel Cavitius. It appears that there were once ~35...
