Alluria Publishing Not Fullfilling their Kickstarter Obligations

Many months ago, I decided to support a small indie publisher who's campaign setting won an enie award. Cerulean Seas by Emily Kubisz — Kickstarter The Cerulean Seas book looked to have a unique setting and some really cool art, so I threw down the money for a printed copy of the setting. The...

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

I'm not sure this comparison, to the Dot Com's, is valid. The Dot com bubble burst largely because many of these companies that hadn't turned a profit, were overvalued (to the extreme). There are tons of kickstarters now, as it has proven itself to be a good way to generate buzz and funding. And...

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

Being a news site...publishing the information when it is, in fact, news, is probably critical :)

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

I just don't see this as being a legitimate argument. Crowd funding is something that should be open to all levels of development. Smaller projects have an opportunity to get an audience...and larger projects have an opportunity to prove themselves to the fans rather then having to go through...

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

My mistake, Soda Pop Miniatures was the company, and Tentacle Bento was the project.

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

And just to throw this out there, I'd love to see a company as awesome as Paizo do a Kickstarter to try and fund something really experimental and unique. Or, honestly, I'd love if they'd do a "Bones" version of their prepainted mini's like Reaper is doing.

Unethical? what? How is it unethical?

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

Why can't it do both? Let new creators create and allow established companies to take risks on things they might not otherwise take.

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

I think you're wrong. There is a lot of chaff in their database right now, but many existing companies that have a reputation to worry about have used the model and site to great affect. I think the Kickstarter website itself (technology) isn't very good, and could use with some updating. I'm...

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

A failed kickstarter by a well established company would be fairly damning, as the people that are most likely to contribute are the biggest fans.

And at the end of the day, when you make that pledge, you have to say to yourself...I am prepared for the eventuality that I'm just farting this money away.

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

I think aurance phrased it poorly...you are donating toward the production of a final product...but there is nothing (currently) legally binding about those price points you are donating at. I think all it will take though, is for one high profile kickstarter to go belly up before we see that...

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

If you do your research, and pledge for known quantities...you'll be a lot less likely to be disappointed. Surprisingly, just like most other investments.

Kickstarter Too many Kickstarter projects? Is Kickstarter the new d20 glut?

I like Kickstarter a lot, and the new things and opportunity it presents. However... How many DnD 1.0 clones and Steampunk RPGs do we need really?

    Print on Demand Services

Hey guys, As much as I love the variety of RPG material I can get in PDF form, for some things, I really enjoy having a physical copy of the book. I have tried out DriveThruRPG's print on demand service, and was very happy with the results. I recenetly looked at getting something from...

    PF1E Best 3rd Party Pathfinder AP's

Hey guys, So, I'm a bit obsessed with adventure modules. I'm particularly into Adventure Paths. Its only recently that I've really started to branch out from official WoTC, and now Pathfinder published stuff. I've been amazed at the quality of some of the 3rd party products out there. Recently...
