5E Monk vs Warlock: Checking the Baseline

You're comparing a full caster using cantrips vs a non-caster and just talking about how much damage they deal over extended periods of time. The comparison is meaningless. Conclusions cannot be drawn from looking at these numbers to see how these classes will actually play and whether they...

    5E Feat changes: requesting feedback

Any feat house rules that don't remove the -5/+10 are flawed. The easiest way to fix those feats is just to make them half feats. I think a lot of your changes are unneeded complication. The best house rules are simple and elegant.

    5E Why Class X is good (+)

I understand that there are invocations that go with Eldritch Blast, but I still don't understand why people just assume it is a core class feature. There are other invocations and it is not more powerful than other good cantrips. I don't play Warlocks with Eldritch Blast either. Just not my...

    5E Why Class X is good (+)

The classes that I like are the ones that fulfill their thematic promise, which is close to all of them. There are just a few subclasses that fall short on this that I won't mention for the sake of the thread. I particularly like the Monk, Warlock, and Druid. Specifically the Land Druid, it...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

I got it from the internet but you can do it yourself by going here: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ There is a graph half way down the page with daily case counts. Sources for those counts are provided.

    5E Chef vs Inspiring Leader

In the recent Unearthed Arcana there is a Chef feat. I once had a character who was a chef and I represented that with the Inspiring Leader feat. Instead of a speech they prepared food which was much better than would be expected when on the road. So how do they stack up against each other...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

For sure, the pandemic is very much not over and is even more of a concern for people in vulnerable populations. People are also only looking at the death rate and not the very large incidence of permanent damage to lungs, cardiovascular system, brain, etc. I have been going out again. The TTC...

    D&D and the rising pandemic

That is awful and makes me angry. However, are you sure the infection rate has spiked? There are still only 1550 active cases in Ontario. That is up from a week ago but is that a spike? More importantly there are only 509 active cases in Toronto which is actually down from a week ago. I...

I think you're tilting at windmills here.

    D&D and the rising pandemic

Conflating this with conspiracies and refusing to wear masks as a political point is a bit extreme. I agree with your position about the order. It's just a little far to compare not understanding how state orders work and arguing against the world's doctors after they have had an extensive...

5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

I think my dream of having one of the 5th level Invocations is dead in the water. I don't disagree with people about barring higher level class functions from feats. I just think 5th level is where the Invocations start to get really fun. As is we basically have either cast a select 1st level...

5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

The cantrips from that feat do scale however. I wouldn't take it for the 1st level spell. The new Magic Initiate like feats give a 1st and 2nd level spell. I like Misty Step but I'm not a fan of Darkness. I like the idea of this feat, to be a bit of Warlock. I just feel like it will be...

5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

Let's say I'm a Wizard and I took this feat. Now I'm 9th level. I think I'm underwhelmed that I get my choice of a couple 1st level spells at will or a couple proficiencies instead of having that +2 Intelligence.

5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

I hate that multiclassing is thing in this game. It mucks up so much design potential. Still, we're talking about a 14th level character here using the most overpowered subclass in the game. A character doing a lot of damage at the end of the game is completely fine by me. Though I personally...

5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

Is the feat as is worth taking at all though? If I am taking a feat so that I can feel like a Warlock, then I want that to be impactful. I don't just want to be able to cast Mage Armour at will. And is one character having an Invocation such an encroachment on the Warlock design? Consider...

5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

Seems pretty straightforward to just say that they can do it with the one granted by the feat. What is the issue?

5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

My pre-playtest changes: Crusher/Piercer/Slasher all one feat. Fighting Initiate - add +1 str/dex/con Eldritch Adept - Allow character level prereqs. Tandem Tactician - Limit to 1 character Helped. Shield Training - This is for spell users so let's make it thematic to those characters. Prereq...

5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

Would anyone have a problem with allowing Eldritch Adept to choose Invocations based on character level even without being a Warlock? I don't see the problem here. Otherwise what are the choices? At will Mage Armour or at will Silent Image? For a full feat I think someone can have a full...

5E Unearthed Arcana: 16 New Feats

I'm going to give the Purple Dragon Knight Tandem Tactician and call it fixed. I think the feat as is, is a bit too good for a feat. It is just right for a 3rd level Fighter ability though.
