D&D 5E (2024) Fireball Vs Chromatic Orb Late Tier 2 Thoughts.

But why? The damage doesn't support this conclusion. I've seen "But I can add metamagic to CO" but how about you can metamagic FB as well. The key thing that makes FB good is it always does damage. To-hit spells miss and do nothing. Sometimes you need to do damage.

D&D 5E (2024) Fireball Vs Chromatic Orb Late Tier 2 Thoughts.

So the consensus is damage is probably not the thing to do for spells, but the original premise was somehow that Chromatic Orb was good. Still haven't seen how that is the case.

D&D 5E (2024) Fireball Vs Chromatic Orb Late Tier 2 Thoughts.

How many did you hit? 7? Level 4 fireball = let's say 23 damage per critter, either ~ 31 or 16. That's a lot of damage. L4 CO is 6d8, 27 if you hit, maybe you hit another couple, but it sucks when you miss and as a True Strike Cleric, you do miss. How is this so much better exactly? Burn...

TSR Why would anyone WANT to play 1e?

Too hard to stay alive, too hard to level, race restrictions, MC restrictions.

D&D General Campaign Idea: Building the Palace of Versailles - what would you do?

I for one would prefer to adventure instead of being a craftsperson or contractor. Are you building it on top of an ancient tomb?

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Maybe someone has addressed this already, but next time you use the term sacred cow consider an alternative, like dead dude on lumber, and consider if someone might find it offensive. If you do, that's fine, feel free to offend everyone's religion, but don't act like the one you're familiar...

No, I went and looked it up, no weapon masteries now.

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

I for one wouldn't watch a Daggerheart campaign, so it works for me.

This site usually steers you right. DnD 2024 Rogue Class Guide I enjoyed my Wood Elf rogue. Does the species still give you longbow proficiency?

D&D General In 2025 FR D&D should PCs any longer be wary of the 'evil' humanoids?

I think there's a unifying characteristic of those players, namely one where being labeled because of how they look has never proved detrimental to them personally.

D&D General In 2025 FR D&D should PCs any longer be wary of the 'evil' humanoids?

My opinion is if you don't want a world IRL where people are judged by what they look like then don't run a game where they are. I would expect the world to give drow a side-eye, but no different from any foreigner, and probably not in a big city.

D&D General Disparity in PC levels from same party

Old school Wizards were so awesome they just leveled more slowly. So a typical party would start to see a little separation. Old school Thiefs were so sad that you needed to play for years before your percentage rolls for hide and such were over 50%, so being a little higher level didn't mean...

    D&D 5E (2024) University project on D&D spells

you really need an option of "I have no opinion," I am not a fan of answering questions without knowing which to choose, and you're just introducing noise into the results. If you want me to always pick B when I don't know that's what I'll do.

D&D General The Great Railroad Thread

Railroading >>>no-roading Had a game where we spent all our time searching for quests and things to do. No over-arching anything. I bet 90% of combats were random encounters while trying to long rest while traveling trying to find a town where something might be happening.

D&D General Conjure Animals 2024 - moving it & when does damage occur?

The wording of this spell makes me think of it more like a moveable Spike Growth. They specifically didn't specify it like an emanation (would have been super easy, just treat it like everything else). So if we scrape it across a creature or if creatures scrape themselves across it (plus just...
