Today's weird holiday brought to you by Hal Greenberg...

Saw this link today, and it made me think of Hal... http://www.oudaily.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2005/04/08/42560662046e5?in_archive=1 Then I thought to myself, what holidays do you have in YOUR game worlds that might be similarly oddball? I could tell you about playing in one campaign world...

    [Green Ronin] Testament PDF Available

Yoink! (Well, pay & download). I've actually gotten quite a few GR titles in PDF (I love PDFs, if you can't tell) as well as print (though admittedly I've slowed my print purchases now that I can find some stuff in PDF; I'll take PDF over print any day). Any chance of seeing M&M come to PDF...

    Good alchemy/herbology rules for non-spellcasters?

e-Alchemy by Bastion Press is free... and their "Alchemy & Herbalists" book (which is now, sadly, out of print if I'm not mistaken). Occult Lore (you should be able to find a PDF at rpgnow.com) has some stuff as well. I know there are more sources out there, but can't think of any off hand...

    Palladium Fantasy home conversions?

Here's what Bill Coffin thinks of the Palladium situation, for those who care (have it bookmarked, I do, because it's a hella funny read, true or not). http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?p=1445566 --The Sigil

    D&D should go point based!

LOL... I didn't have my ring of fire resistance on, just was under the effect of a "Internet Blindness/Deafness" spell due to being busy at work. True that an OGL work can contain XP charts. I do not believe I reproduced the actual 3/3.5e experience chart in it, however (going off memory)...

    Pimp a good PDF Adventure

Warning: self-promotion follows Try "The Burning Sage's Demesne" - PDF, for 4th level characters, and can't beat the price (free). Link: http://www.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=782&src=EnWorld Originally written for Eric Noah's Adventure Contest (and a winner, to boot!) Try it, I...

    Crafting Craft Rules (DC 105?!?)

The spreadsheets are REAL simple, hopefully they won't make you too allergic; they basically just "do the math" presented for you. As to alchemy, have a cut & paste... from the book... I won't claim to have the "perfect" economic system for 3e (I doubt such a thing exists), but I at least...

    Crafting Craft Rules (DC 105?!?)

*chuckles* Don't feel bad about responding. Just because I "got published" (yeah, in a self-published PDF, big deal ;)) doesn't mean I'm perfect. Rather than respond to the points you outlined (I agree with some of them, in fact, but when I wrote my book I didn't want to deviate too far from...

    Crafting Craft Rules (DC 105?!?)

Besides, altering material costs to fit the (realistic?) economy of your world - even only in specific areas due to scarcity - is trivially easy for a GM to do. Just change the materials cost on the spreadsheet and the result will pop out adjusted for this. --The Sigil

    Crafting Craft Rules (DC 105?!?)

Of course. I'll give you a rough idea of time required, too. Time is now 13:14 by my watch. Pine has a craft DC modifier of +0, and a progress check of -1 (pine is a bit difficult to work with due to its tendency to splinter). Cost is 4 sp per pound. It has a weight factor of 3/5 wood. So...

    Crafting Craft Rules (DC 105?!?)

And... your hope is not in vain. :) KEY POINTS OF SYSTEM IN THE ENCHIRIDION OF TREASURES AND OBJECTS D'ART: 1 - Item market price is a function of raw material cost and labor cost (not labor cost is a function of item market price, as in Core Rules) 2 - Labor cost is a function of Craft DC...

It's time for a NEW & DIFFERENT generation of magic-using villains!

The "Control Freak" - The enchanter who is used to having his way, with everyone under his mental domination/charms. He's loved, adored, worshipped, and spoiled... then along come these adventurers who don't think he's so hot. Think of Dudley from Harry Potter when confronted with Hagrid for...

Warforged: How much does their adamantine/mithral sell for?

Thread on the value of admantine (and, IIRC, mithral): http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?threadid=12885 Skip the last post in the thread (should be mine). One man's take on the situation. All you have to do now is figure out how many pounds of metal in a warforged are...

    OGC Spontaneous Divine Caster?

Or use Buy the Numbers and "roll your own" spontaneous caster... though this will take a little more work... but the BtN system lets you take access to cleric spell lists, choose the "base attribute" (Wisdom, Charisma, etc.) while casting as a spontaneous caster. While this system is intended...

    D&D Economics

Don't know if this has been linked already, but the economic system as written is not too bad at handling magic items... I (re-)present "The Economics of Magic Items (RE: Naked Adventurers)" http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?t=17162&highlight=Magic+shop Besides, it even has a...

What RPG books are the Gems of your collection?

The "gems" of my collection (in no particular order): First Fantasy Campaign (Judges' Guild) The entire line of Star Frontiers boxed sets, modules, and supplements (yup, if it was printed for Star Frontiers, I have it - I don't have all the minis, though, and am not interested in collecting...

    Massive Open Content SRD

I feel obligated at this point to jump to the defense of Wulf. I thought the stuff in the "Craft skill" sections of HoHF: Dwarves and HoHF: Half-Orcs was great stuff, and wanted to incorporate it into the Enchiridion of Treasures and Objects d'Art. I contacted him to ask for permission to...

    Massive Open Content SRD

Not to change the subject, but does stripmining the OGC from a product appreciably harm the publisher either? I'm genuinely curious here... as I stated in my long post, assuming any meaningful delay between press and "stripmine," the sales cycle is complete before the stripmine sees the light...
