Confirmed: Magic items and summoned monster stats in PHB

Obviously the DM should be rolling for fireballs too since those aren't the character either. ;) Summoned creatures may be happy about being summoned, they may be sad, they may laugh at your jokes.. but above all they do exactly what you tell them to do when you tell them to do it. They have...

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

At least it is perfectly descriptive. It is a magical touch that makes you euphoric and relieves pain. It does everything it says on the label. A lot of them done on purpose too. Take the character named "Crimson Banner Executioner." He cuts through red tape.

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

I can't recall how 2nd edition changed it, but 1st edition lessened the penalties, but left the boxes checked. It also made you slightly euphoric so while you could get up and move around alright, it was still tricky to focus. Sort of like Laying on Hands, but with morphine instead of actual...

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

There is a good bit more in the cosmology than in the mechanics imo. Granted, they are really riffing of some of the same sources, but it does make me chuckle with a bit of familiarity.

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

Heh. Mixing up the Super Mario RPG thread with this one, in the deep south where the Wyld washes up on the shores of creation, the image of the Sun will occasionally swoop down on the unwary and burn them to cinders. It is not the wrath of the Unconquered Sun and the attack is merely a ball...

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

Probably smaller than that. This is Creation after all and a falling star is probably the remnants of a dead spirit falling to the earth leaving a chunk of starmetal where it lands. And the Unconquered Sun falling to earth is a bit more troublesome as well. You wouldn't be avoiding a ball of...

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

But destroying a mountain isn't part of the mojo you get right away. Of course, a Solar Sorcerer can melt a city if given half a chance so pulverizing a mountain might not be entirely practical. Of course, that isn't the point of the thread.. is it?

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

Actually, the more I think about it, the more a modified Creation might well be my 4e game world. Roughly, I'm thinking Human scattered all over, Elves to the far East, Halflings in the Threshold, Eladrin to the far West (cause I like them with pear white island cities), Dwarfs to the North...

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

But if a mountain is chucked at them, they can block it perfectly well. They can also dodge the setting equivalent of atomic blasts or parry swung i-beams with a tin spoon. Leveling mountains takes a bit more practice.

    D&D 4E Exalted 4e

Considering some of the awesomeness inherent in THIS thread? http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?t=362498 I'd say pretty damn good. ;)

    No more cone shaped powers?

Well, there is a first time for everything and this is the first news I actually don't like even a little bit. I'm sure they have good reasons for this, but it is the first news that actually makes me think that the new system might be the slave to the grid that some people have been worried...

Should rings be able to function for low level characters?

We can. That is what the intelligent item rules are for. All I'm really suggesting is that perhaps in 4e all rings are at least a little intelligent while merely a certain percentage of swords and other items are. I'm just looking at clouds like everybody else right now. I just think that...

    D&D 4E Non-Euclidean Geometry in 4E?

I just stopped using a grid for anything other than ease of mapping and all movement is in inches. It also avoids such wierdness as cone attacks having slightly different aoe on the diagonal than they do on the up and down. Sure, things play out more like Necromunda than D&D, but that is a...

Should rings be able to function for low level characters?

Franklin also thought he could get clean by walking around naked. Called them "Air baths." Hope and optimism don't rot your brain or equate to some kind of brain damage. Personally, I'll look for the best options 4e gives me and not waste a speck of time being frustrated about the rest...

Opinion: PoL and high tiers do not fit in the long run

There was a great disturbance... as though millions of catgirls* cried out at once... and were silenced. Oh the Jedi are going to feel this one. *okay, so that part references thinking too hard about sci-fi only. oh well.

Opinion: PoL and high tiers do not fit in the long run

That would probably be the best course of action. Like in Dark Sun people would flock to Tyr because of the Council that replaced the sorcerer king's power. that council is mainly made up of the 30th level characters that are now beset upon all sides by enemies of all types leaving the rest of...

Opinion: PoL and high tiers do not fit in the long run

That is because you are arguing against somebody who doesn't wan to understand what you mean. Xechnao wants to be right, not talk about options. The main thing is that Xechnao is tossing around words like "magic" and "level 30" as if they are magic bullets that will solve all problems when he...

    Confusing Demons and Such

An easier separation is something I think I might well be using when 4e comes out. Devils are almost universally fiends of the Nine Hells, save for demons under contract to the Nine Hells like Ice Devils. They have the theme of hierarchy, temptation and corruption. Demons are all other...

Upcoming Warhammer 40K Roleplaying Book. Thoughts?

Isn't it more than twice the size too? It is an impressive piece of work. When side by side with WFRP it almost towers over the smaller book.

    Abyss versus Far Realm

Maybe not the map, but there are a few stars you can point at and say "There. We don't talk about That Star at this time of year, but keep your eye on it all the same. Things may come down from it toward the Old Hill. If you see that, sound the alarm."
