The war that WotC started you mean? This is just WotC/Hasbro throwing money at 3rd party publishers in an effort to attract more subs to their DDB portal.

I think the draw here is compatibility. You get the adventure, setting, and rules for the game all in one box. If you don't want to use their rules, there are dozens of other OSR games and B/X/AD&D clones you can use instead with almost no conversion work required.

As an owner of this boxed set, I am biased, but this is one of the most beautiful games I have on my shelf. I'm desperately hoping my friends will at least let me bust this out for a one shot.

Yeah, I got the crusades and silk road books and adventures. Can't wait to see the hardcovers though, been waiting a while for this print run.

The production values seem very high as well. Very nice art, clear layout, and the game's already in Beta, with a delivery date of December (conservatively).

Nimble looks really cool. Kind of a less crunchy DC20 game. The boxed set is incredible value.

Yeah it's kind of odd. They were only really present in Book 1. Once the group was headed to Pax Tharkas I don't remember them being around much after that.

It's not. Wayne did tons of D&D art/covers for 3e and 4e books. He's an artist and isn't beholden to one publisher or another.

I backed the Kickstarter and got the premium book cover. Mainly for the tables. The system itself wasn't really my bag, but it only takes up like 10 pages of the book. The rest is pure gold for generating almost anything you'd want in a fantasy RPG.
