    Dark Sun! I have them!

So, is the Dune Trapper in the Creature Catalog? What are its stats (just a short summary)? And what about Nightmare Beasts? Those were very nasty in 2e.

    Dark Sun! I have them!

Except that those two do have boobs. Or is my sarcasm detector broken?

A subtle reminder from wizards.(or not so subtle)

Now I'm tempted to grab a bag of popcorn and head over there for some good laughs, yet I fear I don't have enough Brain Bleach for that.

    Essentials Rogue is up!

Thieves also lose access to shurikens. EDIT: Though they can still deal Sneak Attack damage with them.

    WotC site

I've had that problem, too. Just post your problem in this thread and it'll be fixed by the ORCs. One workaround I'm using when I can't login on the D&D page is to login on the forums first, and then navigate to the D&D page. Works most of the time (using Opera, btw).

    The Essentials Fighter

Each leader class has feats that modify its healing power in unique ways. Sure, they do start similar to each other for PH1 classes, but that doesn't mean they have to stay that way. (And flavor-wise they're very different.) Also, that slide 1 makes a "tiny" difference that can save your...

    The Essentials Fighter

True, but we were somewhat off-topic, I think. :) I'm in full agreement with you on this. Amazing potential, yet too often terrible execution. The channel divinity and domain feats do mitigate this somewhat IMO, but there's not as much differentiation for 4e clerics compared to their...

    Playing D&D with 3 people

I can think of two ways to supplement the missing roles: a) Let each player play two characters, if they want to and can handle it b) Give the players one or two companion characters as henchmen (rules for those are in DMG2) I've run adventures for a party of 3 PCs that's missing the controller...

    The Essentials Fighter

Ah, those clerics :D. Have you ever tried to build the Forgotten Realms specialty priests with Skills & Powers? Some of them (Mystra, I'm looking at you) need far more character points than you're allowed to spend. :erm: But yeah, just ignore chapters 2-4 in Skills & Powers and you're good to...

    The Essentials Fighter

My point is that the fighting style specializations did make a difference in play, and I don't consider an additional shield attack that can be used to parry an enemy attack to be a passive benefit. And I should add that the Complete Fighter's Handbook also introduced several combat maneuvers...

    The Essentials Fighter

IME the kits that were usually banned came from the infamous Complete Elves Handbook (*cough*Bladesinger*cough*), sometimes together with the Bard's and Humanoids kits. (The Humanoids Handbook was usually banned outright and for good reasons, though.) IMO the kits from the early Complete...

    The Essentials Fighter

Good point, although I was under the impression that every table played by different rules just using the PHB and DMG. Those books alone had lots of optional rules.

    The Essentials Fighter

I think you might be remembering 1e's initiative rules here (segments). Battleaxes were slower than longswords, but the rate of attacks stayed the same in 2e. You didn't lose an attack in a round because your initiative was too high; you simply went last.

    The Essentials Fighter

Depending on your chosen weapon, weapon specialization gave you a different attack rate, and bow specialists gained point-blank range. Other differences between weapons were damage (also depending on the opponent's size category), speed factor, reach and (optionally) bonuses vs. different types...

Are there Fun/Unique/Interesting Differences in American vs. UK gaming sensibilities?

It does (or did), but it's not the most recent edition as far as I can tell: The Dark Eye RPG at Amazon UK The Drakensang CRPG also had a pdf copy of the current edition's core rulebook on the DVD in Germany; I don't know about the US/UK versions, though.

    The Essentials Fighter

I don't know about 1e, but you're way off the mark regarding 2e. Weapon specialization from the PHB in addition to kits and fighting styles from the Complete Fighter's Handbook made a huge difference between fighters even in early 2e, both in terms of mechanics and roleplaying. The later...

    Acronym help

Where did you see those, in WotC's CharOp forum maybe? The acronyms remind me of White Lotus Master Riposte (one of the White Lotus feats from Dragon Magazine).

WHat are the best books/items ever for D&D? :)

    - 2e Player's Handbook The book that fired up my imagination and hooked me on roleplaying. - 1e Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting My first campaign setting. A huge sandbox with lots of lost empires. - The Forgotten Realms Atlas Beautiful maps. <3 - 2e Time of the Dragon Campaign...

    Player's Options: Speculation

Every time I see 'Player's Option' I think back to Skills and Powers and feel like I'm a teenager again. ;) Well, you do have a point there, though I haven't seen many complaints about the other PO books, namely Combat & Tactics (except for the critical hit tables) and Spells & Magic. And I...
