    Avalokias

I invented the avolakia, actually, back in the late '80s for 1st edition. But at the time, of course, they existed only in my home-brew setting (they were a LOT different in that incarnation though... more like high-powered vargouilles who haunted Abyssal graveyard realms). When I got the...

    Adventure Location

Yeah; I've got some not-quite-ready-for-prime-time plans of putting a map of Golarion up on our website that'll track where all the adventures take place. Not sure when that'll show up, but probably not until later in the year at the earliest. ALSO: We'll be doing a GIANT SIZED poster map of...

    How do they survive?

No matter how huge a creature's penalty to damage is, they always inflict a minimum of one point of damage if they hit. Thus begging the question: "Why haven't the world's cats turned on humanity and killed off all the 1st level peasants?"

Pathfinder 1E What project would you like Paizo to tacke next for Pathfinder?

Yup; building a kingdom and ruling it is the central theme of the upcoming Kingmaker Adventure Path. I'm really eager to see how folks take to the rules for building and maintaining domains work... I hope they like them! (nervously crosses fingers)

Pathfinder 1E What project would you like Paizo to tacke next for Pathfinder?

ALSO! This thread is great! We've got some of these requests already covered (such as more spells, more monsters, etc.), many of which will be covered in upcoming volumes of Pathfinder Adventure Paths even (such as rules for mass combat, which will play a big part in the upcoming Kingmaker...

Pathfinder 1E What project would you like Paizo to tacke next for Pathfinder?

Not sure where you're getting this from. I quite like how the rogue plays and works. If I want to play a monster damage dealer in combat, I play a full BAB class, not a class that's more focused on skills and tactics and roleplaying and stealth, I guess. (shrug) THAT SAID... you'll want to...

Pathfinder 1E What project would you like Paizo to tacke next for Pathfinder?

Gamemastery Guide will have some of this stuff in it. You can do this already, but it's just really hard. ;-P Pathfinder #32 is going to feature a pretty extensive article on a brand new way to create nations and cities/towns. Gamemastery Guide will present more stuff on this line as well...

    Flip mats?

Considering that our upcoming Kingmaker Adventure Path uses hexs a LOT... that's too bad. I'll see if I can't convince folks at work to put a hex grid on the back of an upcoming flip mat or two...

Blog posts on DDI should be free

Probably not until several months after I can no longer count our web department's employees on a tyrannosaurus's fingers. A robust online offering like the DDI for Pathfinder would be awesome, but it's not something we have the resources to do anytime soon. That said... there does seem to be a...

Blog posts on DDI should be free

One bit of magazine biz lore: Once a customer picks up a magazine, they're much (maybe 50% or 75%) more likely to buy the magazine than if they didn't pick it up and look through it. From a magazine publisher's viewpoint, having the magazines for sale on racks in stores is INTENDED to get...

    Monsters as PCs ???

That'd obviously be the BEST solution for monstrous PCs (MPCs?). But it would mean completely redesigning how monsters are built... they'd have to be built as PC races first and foes second. That's an awful lot of work to support a relatively small niche of play experience, unfortunately...

    Poisons

Poison use isn't inherently chaotic OR evil... any more so than swordplay or fireballs are. If poison were inherently chaotic or evil, the poison spell would have Chaotic or Evil descriptors, and couatls and guardian nagas wouldn't have poison bites. What IS chaotic or evil is when you use...

    Sneak attack

Worse... dim light (like you often get in an alley) does the same thing. This is a problem that's been lurking in 3rd edition since the start, and snuck its dastardly way into Pathfinder as well. There are two solutions: 1) Say that only 50% miss chances negate sneak attack. That means...

    Pathfinder 1E Dear Paizo

I'm actually running this game already, using my home-brew "Unspeakable Futures" game that I originally built back in the early 3.0 days (and then later influenced by d20 Call of Cthulhu, d20 Modern, and then 3.5), but updated to work with the Pathfinder rules. The game's sort of a Lovecraft...

    Spoiler free Adventure Path recommendations?

Kingmaker's not yet out... but I'm about to start work on developing part 3, and I'm REALLY pleased with how it's turning out. It's pretty different from our normal model for adventure paths, so I'm eager to see how folks react to it. In a nutshell, Kingmaker is our response to the claim that...

    Diplomacy: A game-wrecker?

The way that synergy bonuses stacked up in 3.5 for Diplomacy was a HUGE reason why we got rid of synergy bonuses in Pathfinder, honestly; having a 2nd level character get close to a +20 on Diplomacy was a bit... over the top. In any case, the trick with Diplomacy is to not let the PCs do too...

    Monster Class Skills

The piece from page 292 is an error; an artifact from the 3.5 SRD where monsters did not have class skills based by type. Go with page 306's ruling. Of course, you should also feel free to simply give monsters whatever class skills you want. We do that a fair amount (the bugbear's a good...

Why Do Cover Artists Not Contribute Any Interior Art?

As Erik said, cover artists are more expensive. Also, working on covers takes a lot more time than interiors, since covers have to be a LOT more detailed. Since they're more expensive and take more time to create, that creates a perfect storm of reasons NOT to have those authors do interior...

    Invisibility...when does it end?

If summoning a balor into the midst of a group of drow won't break invisibility (the spell specifically says you can summon monsters, remember)... I would say that throwing a light pellet wouldn't either. Later in the spell, it says "causing harm indirectly is not an attack." The result of...

    Bard Versatile Performance

Eventually, I really hope there will be. And I suspect the APG will start building upon making these differences different. Frankly, I would have LOVED to see each Perform skill get its own suite of abilities associated with it for the bard, like how the sorcerer got a bunch of bloodlines. But...
