Pathfinder 1E Golarion: I'm very impressed

Globes get mentioned a lot. They're complicated for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is the fact that we've never made a globe at Paizo before, and shipping costs for it would be pretty grisly. Has there EVER been a globe made for an RPG product?

    Bard Versatile Performance

Versatile Performance's design goal was to give bards more skill points without artificially increasing their total skill points AND to put an emphasis onto the Perform skill for them after the Perform skill's importance regarding bardic performance lessened from its importance in 3.5's version...

    Raiding vs. tabletopping

To me, Warcraft scratches an entirely different itch than tabletop gaming. Both are fun, but I itch from both so it's not really a choice for me to abandon one for the other. :P Anyway, my take on raids in Warcraft or any MMORPG is this: They're like sporting events. When you play football...

The Bane of the 3ed DM: Monster Advancement, Class Levels, and Prep Time

In my opinion, the trick to running a game when you end up having no prep time is to use stats for monsters you have and just describe them differently to the players. I did this a few weeks ago when the PCs attacked the leader of a troglodyte tribe. I hadn't had time to whip up stats for what...

Do Demon Lords/Dukes of Hell grant spells to worshippers as gods do?

Whether or not the powerful fiends can grant spells is pretty much a world-by-world answer, as folks have mentioned already; it really has no impact whatsoever on rule mechanics, and the games (whatever edition you play) work the same either way. I've always allowed demon lords/archdevils/etc...

Pathfinder 1E Golarion: I'm very impressed

It might indeed be too much to ask for, but we'll see what we can do! :)

Pathfinder 1E Golarion: I'm very impressed

There is not. But a world map like this is something I would LOVE to get into the 2nd edition of the book!

Pathfinder 1E Golarion: I'm very impressed

A 2nd edition of the Pathfinder Campaign Setting that's built for the Pathfinder Game seems like a no-brainer idea, doesn't it? Stay tuned! :P (And before folks panic... a second edition of this book would NOT invalidate any of the flavor of the world.)

    a question on creatures

Simple templates are brand new, and there were a couple of unanticipated quirks with them as far as the rebuild rules go; the animals and INT bit is probably the biggest. Anyway, yeah; a heavy war horse is a horse with the Advanced creature template. If you want to use the rebuild rules, don't...

Pathfinder 1E Green Ronin's Freeport in Golarion... where?

Freeport would work VERY well on one of the islands in the Shackles. Replacing Ilizmagorti would probably cause more problems, since that city and its setup is a relatively important in-world bit of continuity.

    D&D 3.x 3.5 Conversion in Actual Play

We did a LOT of rebalancing of monsters so that they'd more closely match the expectations of their CR score, actually. In some cases, this mean nerfing monsters (usually monsters that also had rend attacks). In others, it meant buffing monsters. In one or two cases, it meant reassigning CR...

Why was morale removed from the game?

Yup... our solution for morale is to just design each monster's morale conditions as needed for each specific monster/encounter combination. It seems to work pretty well.

What do you think of the witch?

I can pretty much guarantee that the final book will have plenty of new witch spells. New spells for all spellcasting classes, in fact, from both the core game and the Advanced Player's Guide.

    Tools for sandbox style exploration?

We're actually going to be attempting something similar to this with the Pathfinder Adventure Path "Kingmaker," the first adventure of which will be out in February or March.

    Has Lovecraft become required reading?

Lovecraft is my favorite author, but I'd have to say that, no, he's not required reading to enjoy RPGs. But that said, he's responsible for inspiring a lot more in D&D that most folks give him credit for. The cosmic horror/Cthulhu stuff is his most well-known work, but you can find his...

Pathfinder 1E Whinge about Pathfinder RPG availabilty

I find it hard to believe too... but not surprising. Amazon's an ENORMOUS company after all, and in the grand scheme of things Pathfinder's still a pretty tiny blip on their radar. We're working on increasing that blip, of course!

    Bestiary Gripe

The shark presented in the core rules is only one species of shark, first of all; you can ABSOLUTELY do a different species that has a bite-n-shake attack, and if you do create a different species by advancing the shark, that's a good idea; helps to keep the sharks feeling different. And if...

    Are prestige classes still viable?

Honestly... I agree 100%. There wasn't enough room, alas, to fit a better mix of classes in there, and we were kind of stuck with what was in the SRD as far as choices go, further compounded by the fact that we had other plans for the blackguard, of course. The Advanced Player's Guide, due out...

    Bestiary Gripe

Correct. And since what makes a natural attack a secondary attack is now the type of attack and not when the attack happens, there's not really a need for a separate "attack" line. If a monster makes a single attack as a standard action, it can choose any one of its available attacks (a claw or...

    Are prestige classes still viable?

We very much tried to make prestige classes not into power-ups for base classes but "flavor choices" for base classes. I'm still not sure we accomplished this, and I'd love to hear more feedback... but the basic goal was that we were hoping that folks would pick up a prestige class for either...
