D&D 5E (2014) Escapist article on SCAG is Brutal.

Here's a book from Green Ronin almost a decade and a half ago that does that in spades, and teaches how to do that for any pantheon. I'm guessing the lessons from this book may have been applied to SCAG. http://www.amazon.com/Righteous-Dungeons-Dragons-Fantasy-Roleplaying/dp/0971438064 *edit*...

D&D 5E (2014) Escapist article on SCAG is Brutal.

Two main circumstances are going to surround the critiquing every book WotC allows for D&D, in-house or by freelancer-license. First, when the brand name is allowed to be associated with very few books, those books have to be much, much better because more is going to be expected. Second, when...

This Weekend @ The BoxOffice: 2015_Nov.08

Yup. Kinda tough to make that much back when you don't even make half it back opening weekend. Still, they could stick around through the holidays, I suppose.

    The Last Witch Hunter

I agree with your assessment of the film and saw it on $5 Tuesday for the 11 am show, then stuck around and watched The Martian which I very much enjoyed. :)

This Weekend @ The BoxOffice: 2015_Nov.01

I saw The Last Witch Hunter yesterday and enjoyed it for the most part. It felt unevenly paced and the direction seemed choppy, like maybe there were some missing scenes or bad final edits. Think of it as a D&D-esque movie that's nowhere near as bad as a D&D movie and you'll enjoy it well...

D&D 5E (2014) Interaction guide for new players?

Maybe folks have some additional links to videos, vlogs, or podcasts that show some actual play with good interaction?

What's All This About Third Party 5E Stuff?

Can you share a list of the PI claimed in the Thule book(s)? Do they include "tactical advantage" in their PI? If not, is "tactical advantage" in their declared OGC? Thanks in advance.

Ancient Dwarven Town overrun by orcs centuries ago

Despite there being bas-relief carvings of lizardfolk in mortal combat with the dwarves of the era decorating the interiors of the towers, the lizardfolk tribe have legends of the dwarves as revered neighbors. :D There are also trogs who are current enemies of the lizardfolk. The lizardfolk...

Ancient Dwarven Town overrun by orcs centuries ago

Lizardfolk. :) My Dragon's Teeth campaign is very similar. Seven towers carved from a series of tors in a one-hundred fifty mile arc were once used as way station outposts centuries ago across a great moor but have long been abandoned. Most reach down underground into the cavernous network...

D&D 5E (2014) Are players always entitled to see their own rolls?

The player chooses his actions in an RPG and the GM let's the player know the consequences. Sometimes dice are involved in adjudicating those consequences. The thing is, the GM let's the player know the consequences but not always the results of the die rolls. Letting the players...

D&D 5E (2014) Are players always entitled to see their own rolls?

I don't think such an implication as you describe exists. A GM rolls dice to adjudicate all situations where the rubber meets the road, which is to say when the character meets the setting, if the GM so chooses. At that point it is no longer a roll which solely affects the PC, so it is up to...

It's cool that Roll20 makes sure you have those options. :)

D&D 5E (2014) Are players always entitled to see their own rolls?

That's well said. I've often said that story is a byproduct of RPGs rather than an integrated feature. Story elements have always been an integral part of RPGs but a story only comes out of the game.

D&D 5E (2014) Are players always entitled to see their own rolls?

In a way. In that you're bringing up specifics that favor your method for a GM to adjudicate a situation and I am suggesting that my method leaves open the possibility of using your method while still allowing my method which allows for a broader range of circumstances. I guess that's one...
