I usually root for Italy, because I like their style of play and are fun to watch. I also tend to like Germany, though, but I just like watching just about any of the top teams play.

To clarify... In the Dark Sun preview: rolling a 1 with a non-metal weapon (which is most weapons) has a chance of breaking if you choose. That is to say, you could try to roll again to either roll better (and hit) but you'd risk breaking your weapon. Magic items probably have a less or no...
