It works pretty well for me. I did have a problem where it didn't recognize a USB device I plugged into it. However, possibly after a reboot, it did recognize it. Besides, it's kewl! :) edg

I think the Dresden Files has the best explanation of magic. In it, Harry speaks faux Latin. As he explains it, the words aren't important. All they do is help focus the will of the wizard. So, he says something that's Latin-esque and talks about air or wind and that type of effect...

In all the books I read, designers suggest only doing what is necessary. So, go high level. Figure out what empires are where, pick the style you want. Do you want a division between technology and magic? (Shadowrun/Buffy) Do they work together? (Steampunk or chaostech) Maybe something...

I think that's tough because I don't see their tech tree going the same as earth, because of magic. So, maybe you go to some sort of steam punk or some game where magic and technology have evolved together? Chaostech? d20 Modern in FR? Maybe take the classes and ideas from Urban Arcana...

As was recently pointed out to me, there is a bigger effect to the buff spells to be a straight +4. When it's a die effect, it can be maximized and empowered. If it's just a number, it can't be. I don't know if there are other places with this kind of effect. edg
