    Doctor Who 2007: Blink

Oh, I noticed them on first viewing. I thought that they couldn't even see themselves. So, when she grabs the key, they have to be cautious so they don't see themselves. I could be wrong. In terms of the TARDIS, waaaay back in the episode The Romans, though showed that what happens outside...

Isn't Success in D&D Dependent Upon Murder?

Oh, and This recently came up in our game. One of the players decided he wanted to play a pacifist. He was going to have a code of honor and the first item was not to kill. We talked about that and realized how tough that is, in game. First, I asked whether he can let others kill? If he...

Isn't Success in D&D Dependent Upon Murder?

While this was mentioned, I don't think it was emphasized enough. In our 21st century morals, most people consider murder/killing bad. However, we are trying to play a game that is supposed to be set in medieval times. And they had VERY different definitions of what was murder and what...

    Doctor Who 2007: Blink

LOVED THIS EPISODE! I thought it was brilliant. They did a good job with it. The angels and how they moved were awesome! Especially toward the end! Wow! I can't wait for the next episodes! And I can't wait to see the big reveal of this season! I also am glad that Jack's back! Woo...

Alternity (and OOP games in general)

Yea for Alternity! Wow. I saw this and read it and it was like reading it the first time. Then I saw my own response and shivered! (I had just watched the Doctor Who episode Blink.) Very strange. It's two years later and I still have a group and we still play (fantasy) Alternity. And...

Last Saga preview: what's D&D's Starship Combat?

Hmmm. That's an interesting one. What about any rogue skill use? If there is only one rogue and every door is locked, every hallway trapped, that puts the spotlight all on one character. What about tracking? If it happens for too long (whatever that is), is it too exclusive to a Ranger...

Last Saga preview: what's D&D's Starship Combat?

Wow. Lots of good things here. I never considered the influence on DND in those terms before, re: Plane Sailing, and how Conan, et al, ended up leading armies. Happened in Amber as well, which I think is listed as an influence in the 1E DMG. Very interesting. Thanks! To the OP, I think...

What percentage of your RPG time are you DMing?

I don't like the ranges because technically, it's at about 99.3% DMing for me (in terms of hours DMed vs hours played) but the range of 81-99 doesn't do it for me. So, I haven't voted but it would be the high end of that range. edg

CC2, FR Interactive Atlas and Weathermaster...

I use both and I don't think there is a good answer to your dilemma. At least, not one that I have found. What I suggest is extrapolating based on other books. You know Chult is a tropical jungle, Cormyr is a temperate climate and Spine of the World is near arctic conditions. I would use...

Is the D&D fanbase too divided?

I can't speak for sure but after meeting some of the designers at cons, they seem to really care that they put out a quality product that people are going to enjoy and use. And if they succeed in that, profits will follow. I could be wrong. edg

Is the D&D fanbase too divided?

Wow. I am curious as to what others have to say about this. I can remember the last division was on game worlds, because the mechanics were pretty static. Now, with PrC's, feats, and skills, it's easy to divide people on the mechanic side as well. I have noticed this in my gaming with...

RPG - Serenity - Any takes/reviews of it

In the fwiw category I was also not impressed with the game mechanic. The idea is that d10 + d8 means a success but depending on the target numbers, which I don't know off the top of my head, it isn't the case. You can still get low numbers with that. The productions quality of the book...

Doctor Who 2007, Episode 2: "The Shakespeare Code" (Spoilers Likely)

Hello. Actually, most of the 6 episodes from that time will probably make you think that. Those extra two episodes usually didn't add much and just dragged a few scenes out. I would say early fourth doctor is good, but avoid the six episodes ones for now. Nearly any fifth doctor is good...

Doctor Who 2007, Episode 3: Gridlock (Spoiler Alert!)

It's not that I didn't enjoy it. I think I wanted more or it didn't fill in enough blanks for me. I understand they were giong where they thought it would be better, for themselves or family. But, there were still people in the undercity and I didn't get why it was so bad such that people...

Doctor Who 2007, Episode 3: Gridlock (Spoiler Alert!)

I am torn on this episode. On the one hand, I think things with the Doctor and Martha were handled well. She knew him well enough to know he cares, given what she has seen him do. But she didn't know anything personal. And I liked how she "forced" him to talk. Not something that they...
