I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

What bothers me is WOTC trying to have it both ways. If Wood Elves are fast because of their biological or supernatural nature, which they have said is the case it’s species traits, then you cannot also say that the stats for species in the PHB only represents exceptional individuals.

I don't get the arguments for bioessentialism

Absolutely. And in my own game I have constructed Ancestries to have signature traits, skills, and even bonus Attribute Points, but with guidelines for making a character different from other, eg, Döragr, and be graceful and acrobatic instead of tough and clever. But most Ancestries are also...

Crossroads Advancement, an update no one asked for 😅

I do still want to someday figure out a way to make traits after character creation fully narrative, while keeping the game balanced with ways to seek out training and new resources during downtime and a “xyz amount of new abilities means you gain a level” so that challenges can use levels to be...

Crossroads Advancement, an update no one asked for 😅

So a while back I posted this thread about how I’m doing advancement in my game. I was trying to avoid tracking xp and just have traits you gain semi-diagetically. The problem is, doing so while also using levels and letting players choose traits from a list just doesn’t work (it could but it...

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

Okay? Your reply was ridiculous, and implied that I was lying about my own experience. Just admit you misunderstood and replied in a kneejerk fashion. This has gotten quite silly.

    Are Ghosts Real? (a poll)

    Of course.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

Bro you literally replied to me stating that the people I know IRL like it.

D&D 5E (2024) So what's going on with the October book?

Then you're wrong lol Here and reddit are pretty much the only places i hear people hating on it, and even here that opinion isn't exactly universal. But hey if you wanna believe I'm lying, go ahead I guess

Are there any features that hit constructs harder or target them specifically?

D&D General What if we gave dragonborn four arms?

Yep. And to me pomegranate juice has an oddly…decaying…aroma. Okay okay Tomato juice, pickle, lemon juice, sloe gin, dry gin, rounded out with mead. I wouldn’t drink it, but I know some people who would.

D&D General What if we gave dragonborn four arms?

Tomato and pickle And pomegranate, but that’s mostly the aroma.

D&D General What if we gave dragonborn four arms?

Simpler. While flying you take up space as a large creature. If you take damage you must make a con save or fall prone. At level 5 you no longer have to make saves to avoid falling.

D&D General What if we gave dragonborn four arms?

They need to stop worrying about it and just give the very simple advice needed to run a game with one or more flying PC in the core book.

    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

I didn’t say or imply that you did. Which is a good thing, not a mark against it. Bruh, you seem to be looking for some sort of fight. I’m not gonna give it. Have a good one.

    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

Yeeeah. I am quite guilty of “talking too fast”. Between learning Spanish from people who speak it very quickly, and living in California, people talking slow feels painful to me lol

    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

To be fair, Superman didn’t start out as the stronger guy in every room all the time always. So if this Clark stays at that level, I’ll concede that it’s a departure, but if he gets more and more powerful, then that’s exactly as it should be. Besides, IMO, Superman’s identity isn’t being the...

    Spoilers Superman Spoiler Thread

Yeah I mean I am Californian, and when I call my company’s corporate “store support” line and get someone from Kansas, Tennessee, or a few other places, I feel like I’m talking to the sloth character from Zootopia. It is so slow I struggle to remember how the damn sentence started, by the end of...

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

Nope. Either keep reading or find a pre-errata copy. They deleted chunks of text after people pushed them to fix the problematic language of that book.

Wizards of the Coast Reveals Revised Eberron Species Details

I mean, it’s not completely out of the authors hands. Volos presented half-orcs how they did, there wasn’t exactly much extrapolation involved lol When the description uses exactly the same wording as old rhetoric used to dehumanize Black and Native people, it isn’t on the reader to give the...

    Daggerheart Kaiju Battles?

I dig that. Love Earthsea. To me though, the best dragons come in two categories: Dragons you can befriend and ride And Dragons so massive you cannot stand on the ground swinging a sword at them, you have to strategize, and take big risks, and take them down by knowing their weakness and...
