D&D General Arcane Subclasses UA Survey is up

I’m really happy with the new PHB overall, but man between how out of date DDB is, and stuff like this…. Well, I’ve got a decade of experience homebrewing for 5e, and someone will put out a good third party SRD builder that is worth focusing on eventually. Ugh

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

Now for some real fun, imagine a generation of doctors who think they can just ask chatGPT-MD or some such for the answers to patient diagnosis and treatment. There is a distinctly possible future ahead that is much much much worse in all sectors of life than the present, and LLMs are tugging...

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

Allowing the use of LLMs is like putting point and click videos games on the media screens of automobiles. It will make every quality level of driver worse, if it becomes ubiquitous. It will cause catastrophic harm.

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

Right on. Could you share some of the questions? I’m really curious, even if I don’t decide to go the same way.

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

It’s exactly on the mark. It is very strongly comperable to abusing prescriptions or other “white collar” drugs. Here is an article that references the research. I’m at work, so if you want more you’ll have to google. Maybe their AI will get one right and lead you to a direct link to the...

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

When it fails. But yeah, that. A lot of people find it useful to do drugs, too. 🤷‍♂️ It’s literally making people dumber, decreasing the quality of work, generating misinformation, harming the planet on a scale that vastly outdoes the rest of the global digital workload combined, and...

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

As someone who is losing the ability to paint miniatures due to a medical problem, and who initially enjoyed “making” ai images and playing on AiDungeon, yes. So we should keep diving into an inherently unethical technology because it makes one guy happy? I mean, I guess so? Someone made a...

AN AI band has 900,000 monthly listeners

Songs made from stolen bits of other people’s songs isn’t “exquisite corpse”. It’s stolen trash.

Judge decides case based on AI-hallucinated case law

Except LLMs aren’t nurturing any such thing. And a really bad lawyer that can only puke up what it finds online with definitionally no understanding is worse than no lawyer. This tech will never bring us closer to a better future, it will only help billionaires steal even more of the pie.

How much water and power to avoid having to read?

AN AI band has 900,000 monthly listeners

Unless they train the ai on their own music, no, it isn’t pushing the boundaries of anything except artistic integrity and basic decency.

The very clear path forward is to ban generative ai and let people grow in experience by actually doing things.

    (Crossroads) New Character Sheet

Thanks! The system’s complexity is….unusual I guess. The game isn’t all that complex in play, but has very in depth character creation, and the simple resolution mechanics use the foundation of character creation to keep players engaged without weighing them down. It is a crapton of skills and...

    (Crossroads) New Character Sheet

I know it’s janky due to the copy and paste from excel to word nod quite working perfectly, but I was at least hoping for some commentary! 😅 But seriously, I think that I might try putting the excel sheet into paint shop pro or something, cropy-paste, and then assembling the sheet from the...

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

Interesting. One of the things I’ve worked out recently is that Techniques are gained either in game as rewards, or by advancing your skills to a new level of Mastery. Levels increase the skill rank limit, so effectively the higher mastery techniques are level gated. For the most part Traits...

So at the end of a session, you ask questions and award xp based on that?

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

No that’s fair, but I will point out that I have updated the concept (but not the OP, I’ll try to do that today), and rather than earning ranks directly, I’ve given in and gone back to Experience, but simplified exp to; 1 exp is enough to get one minor trait. Specialty ranks are minor traits...

    (Crossroads) New Character Sheet

I’ve spent the last week rebuilding my main rules document and character sheet. Neither is done but I really like the character sheet so far, and figured I’d share it. The boxes were built in excel, but aren’t interactive. I used excel to make grids and boxes, with adjustable borders and such...

    Advancement, A Weird Idea?

Yeah I really like being able to improve a little at a time.
