D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

Spell Save DC in 5e is calculated as 8+PB+Ability Modifier (whichever one the class uses). That is a pretty easy number to keep set. For example, a Wizard with a +3 to their INT (Stats are only bonuses or negatives in this game, no 3-18), at 1st level would have a Spell DC of 13. That number...

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

Not as per what is there. You have different stacks of cards. They did very well at separating the stacks of cards. No one realized they were supposed to get cards from the stacks (Except the Elf Wizard which DID get the cards from the Elf out...I think it was Druidcraft). They are supposed...

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

They read it (they are the new players). I skimmed it. I know how to play 5e so I didn't expect to have to get everyone going from scratch. That didn't work out. I started everyone from the basics. It took an hour before we even started to play. I was hoping something like 5 minutes...

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

Thank you. That's not actually the Spell DC (which is stated specifically to be on the Spell Card...as quoted on page 10 under Saving Throws, but you are correct. We ALL missed that line...somehow.

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

You have to watch the videos to figure things out. The videos are far more clear and more in depth than the book on character creation and what goes on in the character creation. Same with the how to play video. The How to play video actually has a decent example of how to play. The books...

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

I have both the Read Me First and the Play Guide. In the Read Me First all it says is It goes over the card items in the component Overview (Pg. 3), but it never really goes into...Okay...this is what you are going to do with these items. None of my players put 1 and 1 together, and it...

Spoilers Hey look, there's a new Robin Hood show coming with Sean Bean as the Sheriff!

Beat me to it. That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm also wondering what period this is Set in. It appears Connie Nielson is the Queen, but what periods of English History had the Queen? Is she Bloody Mary? Which Queen is she supposed to be? Edit: Ah, someone answered that. She's...

    Paizo Pathfinder Quest

Well, I'm going to go all in on this. Custom Dice are not a problem in Board games these days. A LOT of board games have custom dice...why wouldn't this one? The biggest competition they have (Descent Legends) uses custom dice. The other big competitor doesn't use dice at all...

D&D General Who is this made for (Not Beginners) - the New D&D Starter Set

This is...hands down, the worst Starter Set, Basic Set, or any other Set for those who never played an RPG before type of box set...EVER. You say, that's pretty strong words. Yes...yes they are. The Rules to play this game are not located in this box. The Rules to create your character are...

Pathfinder 1E I’ve Forgotten How to Play Pathfinder

It depends. I've read some things online and I've missed a few items (including one character, I'm trying not to read ahead of what I've already played, so found out after I passed that point that I could no longer get a certain character, especially because I failed the rolls). However...

Pathfinder 1E I’ve Forgotten How to Play Pathfinder

I haven't stopped playing Pathfinder over a long period. I have over short periods but haven't forgotten how to play. I am currently slowly making my way through Pathfinder Kingmaker (CRPG). There are different levels of difficulty and control. The Computer doesn't make the best decisions if...

    Star Wars: Starfighter

Well...in a way the clones were the enemy. And from that light, many of Obi-Wan's friends were killed by those same Clones. Just a thought. As for Gosling... He may not have been in the most popular movies at times, but I can't think of a bad movie he's been in over the past decade. He also...

D&D General The rapier in D&D

Once they did away with the Bastard Sword and basically made the Long Sword of 5e the same thing as the Bastard Sword from earlier editions (especially more like what you had in BECMI), they needed something to fit the role where the Long Sword used to be. They should have called it an Arming...

[PLEASE HALP!] 5-hour flight; what video game should I play?

This could be a decent choice. You won't finish it from a 5 hour flight. You won't even come close to finishing it. Not a bad choice to spend time though. Terrible choice. If you lose connection, even for an instant, you are hosed. It's an always online. In addition, you said you don't...

    WAR OF THE WORLDS Trailer

Well, my favorite War of the Worlds film was actually pretty good. It was called Independence Day. I even liked the Sequel everyone hated.

Note, I've only listened to the audio books by Graphic Audio. I had no idea he was supposed to be Asian.

Other D&D Variant Dragonsbane Vs Shadowdark

I lean towards Dragonbane currently for one and only one reason. Lone Wolf recently had a Kickstarter for a new RPG. That RPG system is Dragonbane. The new Lone Wolf RPG is basically going to be an expansion of Dragonbane. No idea how they will do it in relation to how Lone Wolf and the Kai...

Fighting Fantasy Gamebooks Coming to America via Steve Jackson Games

My favorites were by Stephen Hand...Dead of Night, Moonrunner, and Legend of the Shadow Warriors. I also really enjoyed those by Keith Martin/Carl Sargent, so Vault of the Vampire and Stealer of Souls were some favorites. I also really liked Revenge of the Vampire. For lower numbered...
