    D&D 5E (2014) The Int 8 Party: A Solution?

Neither do I. Pointing out that the problems being discussed are by no means universal is not blaming people for having a problem. The Op started out with; "In 5E, Intelligence is a dump stat for almost everyone except Wizards." If this doesn't seem to be the case in actual play then what is the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Saves At Higher Level?

For all the talk of it, I really haven't seen an issue and I fail to see where the issue is in this particular encounter. By mid lvls there are a lot of ways for PC to boost saves ie; Indomitable, Paladin auras, etc. Unless the intent is for saves to become trivially easy, there are going to be...

    D&D 5E (2014) The Int 8 Party: A Solution?

I am almost certain I have never played in a game with more than one player with 8 Int in 5e, we often haven't even had one and that's with a lot of fighters, barbarians, rogues, etc and very few wizards. In all of the documented games, live-plays and such we have available today I doubt there...

D&D 5E (2014) My dwarf fighter is always last into combat?

Yeah, if movement speed is intended to be a thing, then what you are describing makes sense. If you really want to attack first you could action surge, or of course just chuck something. If it's really frustrating, make sure to mention it to the GM in a non-critical way, they might just be...

    D&D 5E (2014) Prone

Heck yeah! One of my favorite things about the way 5e plays. Don't forget you can drop prone for no cost. Sooo many situations you would see in movies, and yeah I suppose "real" life too :) feel much more fluid and real when a player can, for example; Stand up from behind a wall, take a shot...

    D&D 5E (2014) Would you rather have a power 1/Short Rest, or 3/Long Rest?

Depends on what type of power, if it's the kind of thing that I would get back after taking a breather then I would prefer it to be 1/short rest. If it's something a bit more abstract or that I might do several times back to back then I prefer it to be on a long rest recharge.

    D&D 5E (2014) Giving Ranger Expertise

I probably should have phrased it differently, you are right that players not looking for interesting sources of advantage could be a detrimental side effect. On the other hand, I have found myself at this point most often favouring a non-cancelling variation of adv/dis, the only real detriment...

    D&D 5E (2014) Giving Ranger Expertise

Sorry if I came off negative, was mostly just thinking out loud. After seeing 5e with and without expertise I think I am leaning towards wanting it and other pure numerical boosts to skills to be a very small part of the game if there at all. I won't get into why I have mixed feelings about it's...

    D&D 5E (2014) Giving Ranger Expertise

I have found advantage to work well enough for situations where people are doing what they should be good at ie; Wizard with wizardy stuff or a ranger climbing trees and it doesn't have any detrimental side effects.

"Dust" and "Midway" - Codenames for Upcoming D&D Hardcovers

Well that was my point though, some of the surveys weren't even open for a month afaict. I get that they move to non-public playtests but they could still grab data without shutting down the survey.

"Dust" and "Midway" - Codenames for Upcoming D&D Hardcovers

Which did kind of irk me. I am sure that there are good reasons, like deadlines, but it seems to me that a month would be a reasonable amount of time before closing the surveys. As long as they got what they need I suppose.

"Dust" and "Midway" - Codenames for Upcoming D&D Hardcovers

Someone mentioned it already I think, but when I just went to an Unearthed Arcana survey that "Midway" in the page title really stood out to me.

D&D 5E (2014) Hypervelocity bards (WAS Fixing the bard's action economy (quick suggestion))

I have yet to see even a glimmer of immersion breaking for anyone I played with regarding the bards "sound economy", so it's not something I would consider changing. I have an idea though, of how to fix it that makes all of the things that can happen in a round seem 100% plausible. Bards are...

D&D 5E (2014) help me modify a section of Phandelver

The easiest way (by a wide margin IMO) to ramp up difficulty in a set encounter is simply increasing the number of foes. By increasing the numbers you can very easily make things challenging (due to action economy, bounded accuracy, ranged attacks being powerful in 5e, etc.) and yet not have to...

    D&D 5E (2014) Your one hope for D&D?

Yeah! I wished for monster cards in the survey about physical stuff awhile back. I think some high quality dry-eraseable ones like the GF9 spell cards could be sweet, they could incorporate some ways to track details like HP on the cards. Even if they were really plain but just well printed I...

D&D 5E (2014) Do you feel 5e pressures you to build strong over fun?

The starter set begins with a set of encounters around that number. It doesn't force the players into it but I have seen many groups attempt the whole thing in one day. Typically it is RP reasons that make them attempt it ie; Backgrounds tied to the story motivations, Personality traits, IBFs, etc.

    D&D 5E (2014) Class bloat without multiclassing?

Ok, this is in the textbook under "Moving the goalposts" I shouldn't have entered this "discussion".

    D&D 5E (2014) Class bloat without multiclassing?

I don't get it, you make endless assertions with nothing to back them up; Then you go on and on demanding some sort of example of an exact multiclass combination at an exact level. Wth would you even consider a "legitimate" example anyways, am I supposed to dig through my player's old...

    D&D 5E (2014) Class bloat without multiclassing?

I assume that you have nothing to back up that assertion? If it is based on anything concrete I would be interested in seeing it. In case I wasn't clear, multi-classing is very rare when I run. When it does happen it is as often as not in this "organic" (not planned at char-gen) form. Not that...

    D&D 5E (2014) Your one hope for D&D?

Well, my wish would probably be along the lines of as much time as possible before the official game gets wrecked (either by products released, corporate factors, or the community). If that's too abstract then I guess what I have been thinking about lately is an adventure or box set along the...
