If I'm trying to sell the idea of getting one of our DMs to run a gestalt campaign, what advice/points would you suggest I use?

It's an interesting concept, locking in a class to one side or the other. It makes the player seriously think about how they're gonna do it. Total aside, but if you're running a gestalt campaign, how much stronger do the bad guys need to be?

Couple of questions: Are all books open for this? (aka, if you don't have it, could you borrow/download it?) How does gestalt work again? Do you still have to use the multiclassing rules to not lose exp? What are the starting stats? Did you roll or are you using point buy? (and if so, how much?)
