Do you "roleplay" in non-TTRPG Games?

I always loved the episode of The Office when they play the Murder Mystery game: "Nah, you speak like you have molasses in your mouth"

Do you "roleplay" in non-TTRPG Games?

I do in Clue, every time. My versatility is wretched when it comes to representing females... Worst Mrs Peacock ever!

Tell me about your favourite Player or GM, and why they are your fav.

DMwise: My old school buddy from middle school, an ahead of his time cerebral type to balance out my meathead self. He loved martials, Beowulf, Once & Future King. He taught me a bunch of concepts like "less-is-more". As well as a bunch of literary devices. Also, watched a bunch of MST3K with me...

Do you use "voice acting" when you play?

❤️ this as well. I am of a different background. More like non-stop athlete that needed to escape from that with exposure to cerebral stuff. But I am also a 🦕. I have no need for pretext these days, but also I hone my social skills and adaptability with this. Since I am an oldster with a...

Do you use "voice acting" when you play?

I love this 😀 It can make it pretty easy to track conversation exchange for sure, you know EXACTLY who is talking without having to say "The King says___"

Redhelm Martel, Champion Redhelm. Descended from group that served a demonic cultist ruled empire (Conan Acheron type of deal). There is a slave helmet element, then going turncoat on this empire long ago, then the whole despised by everyone/roaming barbarian thing. Anyway the namesake helm is a...

Tell me about your favourite Player or GM, and why they are your fav.

This player used a character device that I love. Build a culture and think up characteristic phrases to pull you into your character and they don't require a response to be effective. My Hungary/Ottoturk/Cossack based barbarian had a bunch of phrases or metaphors: "The red-handed Pindle chases...

Do you use "voice acting" when you play?

I have a solid RusEuropAsianesian accent I typically use for my barbarian. I sometimes use it for DM'ing as well because it helps immerse my players in true "back & forth" exchanges instead of removing everything to the third-person... he said. Or having to be like; Laszlo says: "...." I also...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Yep and banging the same drum, but: 1) healing on a class that probably has been halving the incoming dmg or at least a portion with the new monster manual.. its not truly a doubling effect, but it is extra mileage for your heals. Probably would be OP if it was healer/caster healing. 2) Bonus...

    D&D 5E (2024) The Great Wizard Extinction.

I don't know, our wizard is the local loremaster & we have alot of investigation. ALOT of magic identification in the field, alot of flavor there. The party is often competing for the wizard's spare research or crafting time... so in that case the INT character fields a massive, irreplaceable...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Must be the the difference between solid stats-based postings versus more opinion stuff I must be seeing, Isee alot of low opinionon the heal ability... but you have to consider the class that they are giving the healing ability to. They did a great job with functional differences with those...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Yeah, overall that is alot of flexibility on extending your dmg taking day at LV1. If you really wanted to as well, you could tweak things and change species to give the reaction to reduce dmg then you are covering a bunch of scenarios... including alpha strike/nova scenarios. Of course...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Yeah, a little cumbersome. Just falls in-line with how each productive round is amplified at low levels, just like how the incremental (as needed) aspect of lay-on hands is more important when it comes to making a partial healing decision vs a wasted overkill healing decision and which one will...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Paladin's 40+ eHP is formidable. Lay on hands, as a bonus action is solid. Cure wounds starts to fall into the lost action economy category though.. which means more now with weapon mastery (sap or topple), also, the same thing previously mentioned about not completely scrapping dmg dealing.

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Because the comp fighter was human w/ tough and magi initiate feats. So, just going with the comp. Could be Stoliath mag-initiate... then you are giving up some to have less HP

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

Again though, this is more geared towards some other balancing feats removed though.. stone endurance would be an effective edge to the barb in scenario 1 for example. I think balancing feats do make it a near tossup.. but once you add 1/2 BPS and maybe 1 less AC, maybe 2 more Hp... then again...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

So, curious, would: Mage Armor, (8 hour duration) work for, say, the human barbarian with magic initiate. So, if the character cast it like 3 hours before combat/rage use?.. would that barbarian now be around 21-22 AC?

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

There are plenty of 1/4 CR mini-hordes though. Giant insects, rodents, beasts all clip along over difficult terrain with ease, I cannot remember what your summon's move speed is but it cannot hit every round if it is out-paced. This is all kind of a sidebar though, since that all is...

D&D 5E (2024) Which class is the most durable (level 1)?

A bunch of monsters are high mobility, and if you are behind the wall. The enemy also has cover... though not from your summon. Then you have to hope your summon can glue the enemy in place though, instead of them bypassing the summon and now trapping you by a wall
