Paizo Ends Pathfinder Adventure Path Softcovers, Switching to Quarterly Model

But notice that he doesn't buy the entire AP on the monthly plan, if I'm understanding this right - he buys a first issue of an AP. If it doesn't make the cut either for him or his players if he pitches it, he doesn't buy the rest of the AP. With the quarterly $80 shift, it's no longer a 30...

    Best published superhero adventure?

We did a lot with the V&V modules back in the day. Ones that we had particular fun with include: Death Duel with the Destroyers/The Island of Doctor Apocalypse FORCE Assassin Organized Crimes Enter the Dragon's Claw Terror By Night Alone into the Night From the Deeps of Space Edit: Since you...

Spoilers Star Wars: Andor season 2

Yes, totalitarian states want their subjects to submit to the their dominant preferred identity - whether Soviet, Nazi, Christian Nationalist, PsyCorps, or Imperial. Any other identity is usually detested and marked for oppression/obliteration or at least keeping at a distance because the...

Pineapple Express: Someone Is Wrong on the Internet?

There are some people out there in this hobby that are just plain joyless and gaming is SERIOUS BUSINESS.

What makes a successful superhero game?

I think we can also chalk up some not-entirely-functional relationships between different writers at Marvel into the mix as well. Claremont was NOT happy about Jean being brought back.

TSR Why would anyone WANT to play 1e?

I figure it falls victim to the general ghoulishness of gamifying a real disease that real people suffer and die from - like malaria which infects over 200 million and kills about 600,000 people a year. I think there are places that can be a bit touchy to tread on.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

That would be my assumption at this point.

TSR Why would anyone WANT to play 1e?

Or the surprise rules. Particularly once you start working with creatures surprised on dice other than d6s. 😬

TSR Why would anyone WANT to play 1e?

I personally wouldn't want to play 1e straight up. But I would play 2e with some elements of 1e hanging on or mixed in (particularly the ranger which, I feel, is superior to 2e's ranger). The main positive attraction for me in the 3e/4e days was AD&D's magic items - a factor that's now been...

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

Crispy's Tavern has a take on it that's pretty reasonable.

D&D General The D&D Memes Thread

It does rock pretty hard. One of my favorite web comics.

How does a Player contribute to the overall tabletop RPG experience?

Be reasonably attentive even when the spotlight is on someone else. Be a fan of the GM and the other players and their characters and help them to play at their best. Don't be disruptive (within reason, a joking aside every once in a while helps the fun, but don't over do it). Share the...

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

It's not like anyone actually claimed that in any significant capacity. What was always in context was that D&D had surpassed 4e sales in speciality game stores based on icv2's surveys - a core marketplace for games and gamer culture, but not the entirety of the marketplace.

And it has the biggest player base already in place, which means new players can easily find resources both online and in person to help guide and teach them as they take up the game.

    D&D General 6E But A + Thread

Is it actually surprising? D&D's got 50 years of history and that means 50 years of meeting, setting, or otherwise conditioning people's preferences for what D&D should be. D&D's history is always going to affect what people expect and want out of it. It doesn't and can't really have a clean slate.

Critical Role to Use D&D 2024 Rules For Campaign Four, Expands to Three Tables and Thirteen Players

I'd be pretty sure Geek and Sundry were paying them. If not, G&S would have been horribly exploiting them.

    Best Horror Role Playing Game

Yes, I believe we encountered and killed more than one avatar of Nyarlathotep in the Masks of Nyarlathotep campaign. None of his avatars are all that hard to kill (particularly if the big game hunter manages to impale with his elephant gun), but it doesn’t matter. The destruction of one of his...
