    Glass jaw of PC defenses

I think the problem is mainly at high levels. Having a bad defense is fine. Having a defense where you get auto-hit is not. I think getting a +2 bonus to Fort, Ref, and Will at Paragon tier and another +2 at Epic would fix the problem.

    D&D 3.x 4E reminded me how much I like 3E

Yes, but you're ignoring the fact that 4e makes a much bigger effort to reward team optimization and powers that aid other characters. There are always going to be powergamers... the difference is that 4e at least makes some effort to channel that urge in a way that benefits everyone.

    Don't need Strikers

If you had to rank them, I'd say -Leader -Defender -Striker -Controller in order from most necessary to least. At the same time, every role contributes to the party in a way the other roles can't.

    D&D 3.x 4E reminded me how much I like 3E

I think the main difference between 4e and 3.x is the way 4e promotes and rewards teamwork. I think most people's problems with 3.x min-maxing is that though it would help your character it usually hurt your party. 4e encourages min-maxing to a degree, but the difference is your best bet for...

New Stealth rules now give us the speed and sneakiness of stealthing parties

If you don't have to make a new roll, that means you can move into normal cover instead of superior cover, correct?

Epic Fight turns into Epic Farce

It was the third combat for the day, but most of us still had our daily powers. The power level was several levels higher, but that's how it is in the module... so you can't say Wizards doesn't intend for death to be in the game.

    A flaw in the system

Lead the Attack and Lance of Faith don't. The others do.

    Irontooth deadliness

It seems the overall deadliness of the encounter varies greatly on how the DM chooses to run the enemies. We had the Ranger and the Rogue peek in and shoot two Kobold minions, after which the rest of the Kobolds retreated and we were forced to enter the cave. The encounter seems to be much...

    4e Videogame

4e would work great as a SRPG along the lines of Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics.

Epic Fight turns into Epic Farce

To anyone who think 4e isn't deadly, our group had four deaths today fighting Irontooth in KotS.

We lost 4 here. Dwarven Fighter, Dragonborn Paladin, Tiefling Warlord, Human Wizard all dead. Only the Halfling Rogue and my Elven Ranger survived. We got off on a bad foot because the Wizard didn't want to play one and charged out in front. He got dropped in a couple rounds and after being...

How Would You Make a D&D Movie?

Write a good story first. Then adapt it to D&D. Do NOT try to turn a generic adventure into a good movie because it will not work. D&D adventures do not follow the same principles of storytelling that a movie does.

    New stealth stuff from WotC

I think this foes too far the other way in nerfing Stealth. I'd rather they nerfed the Warlock concealment.

Epic Fight turns into Epic Farce

Asking someone to stop playing D&D is pretty rude, as is the rest of your post. People are complaining because SoD and SoS spells make you sit out before you have a chance to do anything at all. Without save-or-die you usually only die when it's your own or your party's fault.

    Taking a Break

Assuming 4e doesn't suddenly bomb, I think this forum will inevitably become 4e oriented, barring intervention from the administrators discouraging or banning its discussion, and I don't think that's likely. It's simply the natural way for things to go, water flowing downhill and all that...
