    Gleemax is Dead

Trying to connect Gleemax failing with 4e itself seems like grasping to me. Wizard's incompetence in all things digital has never yet affected sales of their physical product.

    Gleemax is Dead

So how troubling are those pages at the end of the core books that say "Join D&D Insider, powered by Gleemax!" now?

No cover. He's around a corner from you, but not around a corner from the origin square, which is what matters.

    Gleemax is Dead

I also didn't ever udnerstand the purpose of Gleemax. What was supposed to make it so special?

Do you count Racial powers differently?

That's how you're supposed to do it.

    Dailies vs. Encounters vs. At-Wills

In general, it seems to me that Strikers and Controllers have the best at-will powers, Leaders have the best encounter powers, and Controllers and Leaders have the best Daily powers. Defenders aren't the "best" at anything but they are good across all types.

    Irritating Prime Shot!

I'm playing a Ranger in KotS and I've found the best strategy is to maneuver around the sides of the battle, engaging the artillary and skirmishers while the defenders pick up the tougher guys. If you're an Elf this is much easier because of the speed bonus.

Hawk's Talon vs Spikes of the Manticore

Still, I think SOTM is better than Hawk's Talon in the vast majority of situations. Especially once you get Battlefield Archer and the multiple quarry ability.

Hawk's Talon vs Spikes of the Manticore

Huh, it does... but why would it say "one or two creatures" then? It seems like something is worded badly in this power.

Forked Thread: Rate WotC as a company: 4e Complete?

Yeah I'm also having trouble thinking of a fantasy story where people can just fly around without andything helping them. Most fantasy stories you can only fly if you have a magical mount or a broom or something like that. That's one reason I was never a big fan of fly in previous editions of D&D.

Hawk's Talon vs Spikes of the Manticore

One OR two creatures actually. Which makes it as versatile as any double-attack.

    Grading Daily Powers

Any plans for analysis on the level 9 dailies any time soon?

    Grading Encounter Attack Powers

After doing the math yesterday Hawk's Talon seems to be notably inferior to Spikes of the Manticore unless you have an unnaturally large Wis bonus.

I don't optimize. Forked Thread: Dragon Magazine #365's Character Concepts

The problem isn't characters that aren't completely optimized in every way. The problem is characters whose concept makes them inherently less optimized than others, compounded with being poorly optimized even within that concept. At the very least you should be optimized within the framework of...

Hawk's Talon vs Spikes of the Manticore

Ah, multiclassing, so that makes sense. It might not be best to use your character to judge these powers, though, since that makes your PC not as "optimal" in his primary role as he could be. Yup, that's how it works. It's bit difficult to figure out at first, especially since you have to...
