    D&D 5E (2014) Multiclassing discussion

There has been some speculation in my group that dipping 1 level in fighter to get proficient in all armor is a no-brainer for Wizards. Do you think this is a problem?

D&D 4E So all these wacky arguments are still about 4e, right?

I don't think WotCs goals are this nefarious. I expect that they simply want to revitalize their classic brand and sell some books. They're not out to kill your favorite game, they're not trying to completely ignore you, they don't want to poison your dog or put sugar in your gas tank.

    D&D 5E (2014) Exceptional Strength Feat

Or I could just use the feat to instead bump my Strength score +2, for far greater benefit.

D&D 5E (2014) Do we really need so many classes with Extra Attack?

Extra attacks for the Fighter, and all 'Warrior' classes, is pretty iconically D&D, and seems a simple way of keeping these classes advancing at a similar pace as their spellcasting allies – I hope it stays.

D&D 4E So all these wacky arguments are still about 4e, right?

This is not true. Most people on this forum have money in hand waiting to buy 5e the day it comes out. Many of us like what we see, and consider D&D Next's potential to the swansong edition.

D&D 4E So all these wacky arguments are still about 4e, right?

I don't have a dog in this fight. I (dis)like 3e and 4e equally. As a self-proclaimed neutral observer it appears that the most zealous 5e 'resistors' are 3e/PF players who are railing against the few 'Started in 3e but made infamous in 4e' elements that survived the cut and got ported over...

D&D 5E (2014) Pew Pew magic......AHHHHHHH! Make martials all day swingers and casters limited per day slingers.

Ultimately a 'no at-will cantrips' module is perfectly appropriate for the DMG. I'm of the opinion that the DMG should be shock full of optional modules encompassing every sort of playstyle under the sun. I really hope the D&D Next DMG delivers, my hopes are highest for that book.

Because coming up with some lame pejorative nickname really helps your cause. Maybe the 2 other people who share your opinion can come up with something better.

Right, cause resting 8 hours before your world-altering Godlike power recharges in full is such a nuisance. Or you can just cast Rope Trick.

Not to mention multiple daily castings of teleports, summons, disintegrates, time stops, invisibilities, flight, etc. But repeated use of shocking grasp, that just breaks the magic economy wide open.

    D&D 5E (2014) No Cantrips Module

As for a 'replacement module' - perhaps make cantrips 5x/day or give Mages one bonus 1st level spell slot?

    D&D 5E (2014) No Cantrips Module

The camp who dislikes at-will attack cantrips I think earnestly believes poor Crossbow Archery and tossing flasks of lamp oil is good times. However I think the survey data suggests at-will cantrips are favored by a majority - so I think they'll be the default.

Yes, cause the 'Quadratic Caster' is something I invented just now.

I find it ironic the same people claiming "at-will magic cheapens magic" have no problem with their high level Magic Users becoming invincible reality-shaping Gods that can grant themselves multiple Wishes a day. And it's Ray of Frost that's cheapening magic? :erm:

And if they were limited to say, 5x/day, they would suddenly metamorphose like into something wondrously exciting right.

"I just want to say that I can't stand Boom Gone magic. I think there should always be at will spells including read magic. I would like to see casters remain having at-will magic as an option. I think the realm of at will and no limited attacks per day, or even per encounter, should include...

    D&D 5E (2014) My happiness or yours.

You're not making much sense, but... Is there something inherently wrong with presenting as many options as possible, then letting groups decide what they want to use, or not use, in their game? I notice that you have a lot of dealbreakers. Stuff that you demand not appear in the game in any...
