D&D 5E (2014) Non choices: must have and wants why someone that hates something must take it

Given that, why should WotC even care what you think, much less listen to what you want out of their new game? Sounds like even if they made the game exactly what you wanted, you would still not buy it because of how cruel and awful they were to you in the past.

D&D 5E (2014) Non choices: must have and wants why someone that hates something must take it

Did they send jackbooted thugs to your house, twisted your arm, and force you to buy their products? I mean, I spent a LOT of money on 3e and 4e books, two editions I don't care for at all, and I really dont feel that violated.

D&D 5E (2014) Non choices: must have and wants why someone that hates something must take it

I must have said this 10x already: if you despise WotC, swear never to buy their products, and relish the failure of 5e – then why are you loudly proclaiming what you want to see in the game?

LOL I got this reference! Going deep with that one, or should I say 4.886 inches deep.

D&D 5E (2014) Now that "damage on a miss" is most likely out of the picture, are you happy?

I still can't wrap my head around why 'Damage On A Miss' horrifies people so much. Let's go back in time to a time before the 'blasphemies' of 4e existed.... I remember a player missing with his attack, and me saying something to the effect of: Your strike is blocked by the enemy's shield...

D&D 5E (2014) Does 5E have to be available as a PDF for you to consider buying it?

No I want actual books. I could care less about PDFs. My current game is at always my house, so I haven't lugged around a backpack full of books around in some years.

D&D 5E (2014) Intended for Competition with Pathfinder?

No. Pathfinder is for Players and DMs who prefer a 3e-style game. D&D Next is for Players and DMs who want something different from that. WotC stated their purpose from the beginning: to create a new system that captures the essence of the 'universal D&D experience' and borrows from all editions.

    D&D 5E (2014) Called Shots

I know its fraught with problems, but I'll allow called shots for dramatic effect so long as players use it only rarely. In Next, any called shot has Disadvantage, if they hit, then I adjudicate the effect on the fly.

D&D 5E (2014) Now that "damage on a miss" is most likely out of the picture, are you happy?

The trolls who will never buy a 5e book are not driving the ship Obryn, the people who will actually buy the game are. And at-will attack cantrips and hit dice are here to stay.

D&D 5E (2014) Now that "damage on a miss" is most likely out of the picture, are you happy?

Given that 'Damage on a Miss' was one option, of one class, I was pretty ambivalent to it - it didn't put me into the hysterics it did some people.

D&D 5E (2014) Now that "damage on a miss" is most likely out of the picture, are you happy?

Now that it's gone I bet you can't wait to buy D&D Next right. Or will you find something new to whine about?

    D&D 5E (2014) What a DM has to do in 5E

These are all baseless assumptions on problems you think DMs will have to deal with in next. 5 Minute Workday: see hit dice, short rests, arcane recovery Save or Die spells: they don't exist until very high level, and even then use HP thresholds Short Rests: a welcome addition, what's the...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard's at will damage cantrips concern

I'm not the authority, WotC is, and their compiled playtest data tells them in no uncertain terms that the majority of their customers prefer at-will attack cantrips. You are not wrong, stupid or bad - but you are in the minority.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard's at will damage cantrips concern

Eliminate attack cantrips and give casters 1 additional daily spell slot. But trust me when I tell you that attack cantrips are not that powerful.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard's at will damage cantrips concern

Your whole argument vaporizes when you look at whats actually going on at higher levels. Lets look at 10th level, the point at which Attack Cantrips start doing a devastating 3d8 damage. Thats an average of 14 damage if you hit. At level 10 battles and monsters have evolved to the point where...

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard's at will damage cantrips concern

So don't remove them, but rather make them 5x/day. Does that solve your problem? And Attack Cantrips are not nearly as integral to the game as Healing Surges were to 4e. I think you could remove them completely without too much trouble.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard's at will damage cantrips concern

Yes he is, and so are you. Every playtest has included At-Will damage cantrips. They are one of the few 4e-isms that is generally well-liked by the participants of the playtest. A clear majority prefers them - WotC has said as much. Says who? We are talking about cantrips here. They are of...
