    D&D 5E (2014) Does D&D Next need +2/-2 modifiers?

Then by your logic Advantage is game-breakingly good, and Disadvantage is game-breakingly bad. If Bounded Accuracy means a +2 bonus causes the system to become unglued, then Advantage and Disadvantage are imploding it completely. But I see your point. What if the 'DMs Best Friend' in D&D Next...

    D&D 5E (2014) Rule of Three - February 14th

Who cares? A feat in a future splatbook is a lot easier to ignore than a core class ability or feat.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard's at will damage cantrips concern

Might I take this opportunity to say that D&D Next really needs this cantrip added to the available choices: My Little Fireball Range: 50' Effect: choose a target within range and make a ranged spell attack against that creature. On a hit, the target takes 1d10 fire damage.

    D&D 5E (2014) Wizard's at will damage cantrips concern

I think you might be in the minority. While an infinite reservoir of magical Frost Darts may indeed strain the old immersion, Wizards being inept crossbow archers half of the time is strictly worse. Also, you can always just ban at-will damage cantrips in your game. Problem solved.

    D&D 5E (2014) Rule of Three - February 14th

What a bunch of nonsense. - Buff stacking basically ruined 3rd edition and it has been proven to be overpowered. - So whenever they FIX an imbalance, you begin spouting off about power creep and how imbalanced the game is going to be? - Temporary HP has been around forever, and is a HUGE part...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E imbalance: Don't want to play it

You also seem to be assuming 4th Edition contained no 'imbalances' 4th Edition was rife with powers that were clearly overpowered 'A+' choices. And as a DM, I consider combat grind, impotent monsters, indestructable characters, and near limitless in-combat healing to be quite imbalanced.

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E imbalance: Don't want to play it

Lokiare, your whole premise is that 5e contains 'imbalances' that make you not want to play it. All I've heard so far are system differences, not imbalances. Just becuase D&D Next has things that are different from 4e, does not mean they are imbalanced. I'd love to hear and discuss some actual...

    D&D 5E (2014) 5E imbalance: Don't want to play it

I think you're looking for reasons to dislike a game before you try it. A better route would be to tell us why you don't like it, or what you think you don't like about it. That said, my D&D Next campaign is 8th level, and I've found no glaring imbalances. DDN is miles more balanced than 3.5...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does D&D Next need +2/-2 modifiers?

I really don't see how occasionally awarding 'The DM's Best Friend', a +2 bonus for 'favorable circumstances', or a -2 penalty for 'unfavorable circumstances', could have such this destructive game-warping effect you describe. And what is your take on Half Cover, which grants such a +2 bonus...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does D&D Next need +2/-2 modifiers?

I don't know who you're arguing with here – I think Advantage is a great mechanic and a huge selling point of D&D Next. I just think there is room for smaller circumstantial modifiers in the game. Well half cover grants a +2 bonus to AC and Dex saves. So the developers of the game evidently...

    D&D 5E (2014) Does D&D Next need +2/-2 modifiers?

This. I view the +2/-2 as the 'slight' modifier to a roll or check. I view (Dis) Advantage as the 'big' modifier to the roll or check.

    D&D 5E (2014) Does D&D Next need +2/-2 modifiers?

I agree. I have a rogue in my group who loves sneaking, prepping, skulking and trying to find creative ways to squeeze every last bit of advantage out of a situation. I want to reward him for creative improvisation, but many times Advantage is just too good (especially for a Rogue), so the +2...

D&D 5E (2014) The Illusion of Experience Points that Everyone Disbelieves

XP is illusory in my games. Normally I give out enough so everyone levels up after about 4 sessions or so. More if a major enemy is defeated or major quest is completed. Now if they tie XP values to encounter building, I definitely see them being useful for DMs.

D&D 5E (2014) 30 speed for all! Halflings, Gnomes, Dwarves were feeling left behind?

May Gorgoroth's stubby speed 25 legs bear him off to a far green country, and a swift sunrise. Mod Note: I'll take this as an opportunity to ask folks to resist the urge to take potshots at those who cannot defend themselves. Thanks, all. ~Umbran

    D&D 5E (2014) Rule of Three: 7 Feb. 2014

This concerns me: A fine theory, but in my experience with past editions this means instead of being able to go toe-to-toe with a dragon, it means being able to slap the dragon around like a spoiled child.

    D&D 5E (2014) Does D&D Next need +2/-2 modifiers?

I don't know, I seem to recall the Developers saying they are categorically opposed to little modifiers.

    D&D 5E (2014) Does D&D Next need +2/-2 modifiers?

Advantage/Disadvantage is great, but it is a pretty hefty bonus/penalty, roughly equal to a +4/-4. Sometimes it feels like Advantage means auto-success, and Disadvantage auto-failure. I find myself wanting to use +2/-2 circumstantial modifiers on some attacks, saves and checks when I don't...

    D&D 5E (2014) Poisons in Next

Thanks. I hope a weakened/sickened/exhausted state makes its way to the final condition list. I don't see another condition that really captures it currently.

D&D 5E (2014) 30 speed for all! Halflings, Gnomes, Dwarves were feeling left behind?

Because I actually suffer from dwarfism, and full sized humans always seem to run 20% faster than me, and it ticks me off.

There is no such condition - not in the latest playtest's condition list that is.
