D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

Slight tangent, but I once played a couple of sessions where we knew our characters* were going to die. It was a lot of fun. *they were basic pre-gens

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

    Yes, it is still roleplaying.

Spoilers SW: Skeleton crew discussion thread

I’ve recommended it to a couple of people who absolutely hated it, so I’m a bit careful suggesting it these days.

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

That doesn’t change that fact that plenty of people enjoy the roleplaying aspect of the worlds greatest roleplaying game.

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

I understand why people enjoy the possibility of character death I their TTRPG’s I was responding to someone that said they didn’t understand how other people could enjoy the game without it.

I meant to reply to this, but forgot. ‘The Daniel's’ are a duo that debuted with the film Swiss Army Man, (check the trailer if you’ve never heard of it, it’s kinda bonkers) before winning a stack of awards with Everything, Everywhere, All At Once.

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

For some people, the fun of a roleplaying game is in roleplaying a character. Anything else is secondary. It’s not about winning, the level of difficulty or other aspects of competitiveness. Creating a character, telling that characters story and exploring a world with friends is where the fun...

    D&D General Let's celebrate D&D having things we don't like! (+)

Although it’s not for me, I’m glad there is a thriving OSR scene. It means people that prefer that style can enjoy the game without the need to gate keep and tear down modern play styles (in theory).

They showed the directors of each episode at the end. The Daniels directed next week’s episode? That’s going to be interesting!

D&D General Just sweeping dirty dishes under the rug: D&D, Sexism, and the '70s

I don't agree with the idea that art is more restrained nowdays. Just to pick TV as an example... Always Sunny South Park Family Guy are all still running.

D&D General Just sweeping dirty dishes under the rug: D&D, Sexism, and the '70s

I feel like you're missing the point. Do we really need sex(y depictions) to market a game to kids? I don't even want to get started on the different ways horny teenage boys are viewed compared to teenage girls. No, the picture you described doesn't reinforce gender stereotypes, there are also...

How to Tell a Player, "No"?

Sidekick rules from Tasha’s will let you play a dinosaur, I think velociraptor is 1/2 CR. Not that I’d encourage someone to do that as their first character, but it’s doable within the rules.

D&D General How Often Should a PC Die in D&D 5e?

A PC should only die the once, unless they have access to Raise Dead or some other spell.

Spoilers SW: Skeleton crew discussion thread

I enjoyed the first two episodes, thought they did a good job of capturing the Goonies vibe they were going for. I'm interested to see where it goes. As a fan of TV on the Radio, it's great to see Tunde Adebimpe getting more acting work.

D&D General Folks Who Came Back With 5E: Did You Stay with 5E?

I started with 2E, played up until about the time 3.5 came out. Was gone about 10 years before 5E brought me back. I'm still enjoying 5E and will hopefully move on to 5E24 at some point.

GMing: What If We Say "Yes" To Everything?

I think the idea could work, although, in my mind the GM saying yes means... Yes you can try, you would still need to make a dice roll to succeed in a lot of cases. But yes, you can always try. It's something I've tried to encourage in my players (unsuccessfully); don't ask if you can do...

D&D General Elon Musk Wants To Know 'How Much Is Hasbro?'

I'm not saying that he won't buy Hasbro, because he does come across as that petty. But, it seems like this is just him trying to threaten someone for saying something he didn't like. It's almost like a guy that is always pushing free speech is trying to stop people speaking freely.
