D&D General Survivor Thread: Best D&D Movie

I dunno. The thing that stands out with LotR is that all three movies were shot simultaneously as one continuous movie. These were not sequels or add ons, and none of them sits as a complete story on their own. So it would be more like picking your favorite season of a TV show, or your favorite...

D&D General Survivor Thread: Best D&D Movie

We're really down to the top picks where no one should feel good about downvoting any of them. But from my perspective, Conan the Destroyer stands head and shoulders (literally?) above Krull. Yeah, Krull had some neat stuff in it. Looking back almost 40 years, however, we just seem to be more...

Really? So what happened to the actual D&D movies from the list? I can't imagine a better fit than a script utilizing the actual source material. 😉

Conan the Barbarian 8 + 1 = 9 Conan the Destroyer 20 LotR 21 Willow 11 Krull 15 - 2 = 13 Does anyone remember actually watching Krull? Even as a kid, I thought it stunk. And the fact that it outlasted other great movies that should still be on this list (and fairing better than some that still...

    Conan the Barbarian 22 + 1 = 23 Conan the Destroyer 26 LotR 28 Willow 11 Krull 17 Princess Bride 9 - 2 = 7 Because BOTH Conan movies are legit D&D movies. They just switched DMs.

    D&D 5E (2014) Which Version of Freeport/Other Pirate City...?

I forget the name of the pirate town, but the module includes 3 linked adventures that should translate easily enough for 5e. https://paizo.com/products/btpy99se/discuss&page=3?Pathfinder-Module-Plunder-Peril

Podcast/audible book you are listening too right now.

I have very few physical copies of Star Wars novels. I collect mostly guides and RPG stuff. But the audio books (most of them) are so well done with voice acting, sound effects, and music, that even the "bad" ones are entertaining enough.

Currently finishing up the first in the classic Shadowrun trilogy, Never Deal with a Dragon. The next two audiobooks are on deck. https://www.audible.com/pd/Shadowrun-Legends-Audiobook/B086R7YGZL After that, I may start the Fate of the Jedi series. I think its 9 books in all.

So if the RPG you want to play doesn't allow you to make the kind of character that you want to play, exactly the way you want to play it, then it's the game's fault? Hmm... 🤔 Have you ever considered just trying a different game? Or writing fan fiction?

    Grognard view of One D&D?

This looks like fun! Let me try... ahem... 1e the edition your parents and your pastors warned you about. Most popular with cultists and kids on bikes. 2e the edition that took you everywhere you didn't know you wanted to go and forced you to make some tough choices like when your parents...

The "I Didn't Comment in Another Thread" Thread

This is how I try to approach most comments in THIS thread, even when responding to semi-serious comments I make. It is part of the shenanigans we do to keep our heads level and our minds sane (for the most part). Likewise, I don't take comments like @Umbran made to @payn as directed or...

    On listening to audiobooks

Some books are just read out loud, but others with good voice acting, sound effects, and even background music can make a difference. I recommend any unabridged Star Wars book narrated by Marc Thompson. Jonathan Davis is also good, but Thompson is my goto for a good Star Wars ride. There are...
