-This is the weakness of the new monster info rules. Adventurers, heirs to long-established civilizations, might not know anything about "classic"/"common" monsters. Like vampires. Or skeletons.
-A player in a game I was in asked if he could use his adamantine arrow to destroy a stone door. I...
Or a stupid player.
Like the Elven Druid. 10 Strength. First level. Instead of casting say, Entangle. He uses his spear.
And his animal companion?
Heavy Horse.
Gah.
Using the Bo9S, you can easily get flanking with Island of Blades Stance. And your rogues should try WMD sometime--the spellcasters should share their scrolls with the rogue.
A) You can take 20 on Escape Artist, IIRC.
B) WTF were they going to do to the orcs?
It's not like they're like my wizard player, who spends money on scrolls of higher level spells (Cloudkill, fr'ex) when he's 5th level. These guys deserved it.
Actually, I've heard of two. One is a group of isolated, depraved humans with an advanced culture...and the other is a group of normal humans started because the other group is too decadent and doesn't do anything against the Mi-Go.
Wilbur was obliged to carry a gun because of dogs attacking him. I thought Wilbur Whately was shot by the museum guards at Miskatonic U's library?
Consulting the text...
Ah, the dog did kill Wilbur. Pretty nasty dog, too.
If I could play through a classic 1e dungeon scenario (in 3e), I'd jump on it. I want to see how it works as a player.
I want to do White Plume Mountain or the Ghost Tower of Inverness or something like that.
A combination of traps, puzzles, physical obstacles and combat--in odd shaped rooms...
Here's a list of things I made when I was looking at various prefab scenarios to select one as my first scenario to run, ever. I wanted as broad a range of things as possible:
(no particular order)
1. PCs dealing with strange/magical objects.
2. Investigating someone or something through local...
The Manual of the Planes has an Air Element template that I would love to see applied to a Giant Octopus. Basically just gets fly speed 100', good maneuverability.
Abishai are a good choice. If you have them fly and use their SLAs, they could be very dangerous. I just got through running a...
Exactly what I was going to say.
RHoD does involve Orcs primarily, right? Personally, I'd want to change things up with some ogres or something different than Orcs at some point during the adventure.
Heward's Handy Haversack, :):):):):):):)! I buy one every campaign I'm in.
Seriously, follow the wealth by level guidelines. That is, if you're playing 3e.
Sounds a lot like Rambo: First Blood.
If D&D were a point buy system all the characters totals would go down by ten.
That guy's lucky. A less forgiving party might put him down like the animal he had become.
That Warlock is using Hideous Blow in melee, right? d6 HD means he will need that 7 DR to survive...and 7 isn't that much. Use large sized creatures with high strength and a two handed weapon (4 ogre Rgr2s, for an EL9) and 7 DR doesn't seem very much at all.
Let's see...9000 gp worth of stuff...
