    D&D 5E (2014) Skills Redux

I'm not sure I understand. Having read, and run, pre-written campaigns myself (though I admit I only played through OotA--never read it), I don't recall them preordaining every roll a group might/will make. Maybe can you give an example from OotA, wherein Perception was improperly used in place...

    D&D 5E (2014) Feats Redux

    I really like this houserule.

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Missile vs. Mirror Image

That is covered in the spell's write up also. Though someone doing so obviously has other downsides to deal with.

    D&D 5E (2014) Skills Redux

Look, I'm all for making 5e your own and adapting it as needed to meet individual needs. More power to you. It has a lot of malleability. But when I see stuff like this... ...and when a DM is saying it, I have to wonder why they aren't taking action to make it less "utterly unused"? One of the...

D&D 5E (2014) Magic Missile vs. Mirror Image

Not how the spell works at all. You determine if you will be attacking an image when you declare you are targeting the caster, before rolling to hit. And, if you find you are not targeting the caster, the images have their own AC.

D&D 5E (2014) So long and thanks for all the fish!

Do you guys not know how to follow instructions? I said "all of my previous posts". Not that one! Ugh. It is so hard to find good help these days...

D&D 5E (2014) So long and thanks for all the fish!

I strongly encourage everyone still reading along to go back and click a laugh or XP on all of my previous posts in this thread (and any thread, really, if you be so inclined). I won't complain...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Wow. All the angst and such you must be dealing with. I feel for you and your situation. Truly. But can we step back for a second and reconsider the conversation. The discussion at large isn't about some individual, dysfunctional group, where masochistic DMs revel in destroying the party unless...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Totally. I think 5e might actually be the first edition of D&D to accomplish this to such a noteworthy extent. Agreed. I have a few friends that still try to play 5e like its 3.x or 4e. I'm hoping someday that wears off and they can enjoy this edition for what it is.

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

And I'm saying that, especially in an AL adventures environment, a non-optimized bladelock can handle any of that just fine. Even a combat pillar focused environment. 5e just isn't that delicate, nor finely tuned towards optimization. It just isn't. IMX, it takes concerted, deliberate effort...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Two options. 1) DM an AL session yourself so people can see a different way of doing things. 2) Pull aside a handful of like-minded individuals and do something on your own more akin to your preferred playstyle. These are both tried, true and tested methods of helping get things to change more...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Have fun playing with those kinds of folks, I guess. I wouldn't. I'd instead suggest to those hand-wringers that there are systems/editions far better suited to the kind of playstyle they seem inclined to favor. And there's nothing wrong with that. Out of curiosity, are you suggesting that the...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

You seem to be mixing several topics, some about archers (i.e., dex fighters focusing on using a bow), some about warlocks. Define "best"? One of the best weapons in the entire game is dex-based. What to guess which one? I'll give you a hint: It's similar to a shortbow, but longer. You seem to...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Its fine. Maybe a hair above par with other cantrips. What makes it "too good" in your opinion? And yet they aren't. A warlock can play just fine without either or both. And here I thought my earlier retort, comparing this mentality to people who argue in favor of archer builds, went...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

No. It isn't. And gives you other advantages. And why can't an archer wear a Full Plate? What nature? Why can't they use a blade? I'm sorry you feel that way. I don't see the same things you are seeing. Wow, that's odd. I wonder what all contributed to this belief, and subsequent changes in...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Did you see the post I was responding to? It was more of the same kind of Schrodinger's Build stuff you came in with. If the warlock is spending their invocations on EB enhancers, of course its the better choice to EB. Duh. But If I build a bladelock, without any EB enhancing invocations, how...

D&D 5E (2014) Blade Pact Warlocks and Conventional Wisdom

Only when you play Schrodinger's Warrior games. You responded as if I was arguing that a high strength/low dexterity character was better off picking up a bow. Sorry, nothing like the point at all. So the rest of your post, as it pertains to my quote, is pretty moot, IMO.

D&D 5E (2014) What Rules do you see people mistake or misapply?

Haha. I only wish Satyrn had been here a few minutes ago so I could have bet $50 you were going to pull that excuse... Ya know, I miss the days of people actually being interested in having a conversation... Here:
