    Consume, Engage, Cherish

I see half-orc babies on the way from the art...or half-whatever. Interesting article. I think I'm a consume person regarding core books.

    Alignment in D&DN...

Interesting point! If you had to slaughter a sacred cow just to make the game stand different, which one would you pick?

    Alignment in D&DN...

I couldn't said it better myself.

    Meet or beat?

    Agreed.

From specialization to diversification: Choice & playing a fighter

As for weapons, I like the choice to be a mechanical one in which the fighter chooses the weapon from what it can do for him. For example, a long spear is a reach weapon, a flail can disarm, a halberd can trip, etc.

    +2 max for magic items?

In low-magic campaigns, be lucky to get +1. I would even say that magic items in low-magic campaigns don't even come in +X variety, just do cool stuff. In moderate campaigns, maybe +3. In power, high-fantasy campaigns at least +5, maybe higher.

Highest total bonus at level one to a d20 roll

    +3 - +5 at 1st level. At 36th level, no more than +20.

D&D 5E (2014) What attitude should Next encourage DMs to have to TPKs?

I voted gloating because it was funny, but I'm closer to disappointed. I want to create challenging encounters for the group and TPKs should arise from bad luck on the dice or stupidity (or combination thereof). I won't throw challenges that will overwhelm the players unless they are being...

    Alignment in D&DN...

I'm not a fan of traits. With the standard alignments, we have spells and abilities are built into them, but with traits, there's a risk to be a lot more and thus abilities/spells can get silly (Smite Honesty, Protection from Evil and Greedy, Detect Selfish, etc.).

    Leveling up Monsters

I want to say "yes to all", but I liked the monster advancement from 3.0 (not 3.5) rules the best. Had so much fun advancing monsters back then.

    D&D 5E (2014) The math of D&D Next; a moderating proposal

I like the OP post and would include that at levels 21+ and beyond the math gets even flatter.

D&D 5E (2014) Please Cap the Ability Scores in 5E

To keep the math low, I can see maximum caps on ability scores so that no magic or ability that exceeds it make it irrelevant. But my personal preference if such a system exists is that the cap is kind of high--around 25 or so. For Wuxia games, definitely no caps.

    Monte Cook reviews 3.5

I remember reading this review. I wasn't happy with a lot of changes, but it wasn't so different to me that I had quit playing D&D. There was some good things, some bad.

Tell me what's on this map.

Lots of places to explore. That Lair of Agorax looks to be a good start as any. A foul lich of incredible power who only comes out of his tomb to seek his lost love once every 10 years. However, the Harlot Crones of the Temple of Mists keep him at bay, but it is said that should the mists...

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

Totally agree. Hate DMs who are like this.

Are your players usually ok with restrictions?

My players are fine with restrictions so long as I have a good reason. For example, I did ban half-orcs, monks and barbarians in my Carrion Crown campaign, because I'm going more for a real gothic-horror campaign than just "D&D fantasy meets Dracula" kind of campaign. 95% of the NPCs the PCs...

    Pathfinder 1E First pathfinder character

Go with the wizard. Given that there's only four base classes in the beginner box, that's what I'd go with. My second choice would be the fighter.

Top end of +N weapons and armor?

I think if (and I say if) the design goals is to have a flatter math curve, then really all other things should be considered to be flatter as well. Getting of +X items is one approach toward this altogether or putting a more restrictive limit on them. I personally don't mind +X items, but I...
