    Breaking Morale

I would be very wary about taking the PCs morale out of the players' hands. Except, of course, if lack of control is built into the game as a feature. Pendragon most obviously comes to mind. For opponents though, I have always made judgement calls for when they flee, based on what types of...

Haunted House that's not really haunted

Looking for any tips or thoughts on the classic Scooby-Doo scenario in a fantasy setting. I.e. someone wants to keep people away from a certain location - let's say a house - and thus spreads the rumour that it's haunted. They also want to set up some kind of physical evidence for said...

(KS) Iron Sky: The Roleplaying Game

I'll look it over, but my first thought is: More people will find the project if you put it in the Tabletop Games category where it belongs.

    A D100 Revolution With Revolution D100

Actually, the BGB is back in print now. Haven't seen it in stores yet, don't know if it'll get there, but the softcover quietly reappeared in the Chaosium webstore.

RPG Crowdfunding News 042: Esper Genesis. The Umerican Survival Guide, Halfsies Dice, Cthulhu Mythos

Hadn't seen that one... Aha, it's because they placed it in the top category of "Games". I only browse the subcategory "Tabletop Games". That's why it didn't show up.

Call of Cthulhu's Sandy Petersen Sues Paypal Over Withheld Funds [UPDATED]

Not really relevant here. Sandy was not involved in the CoC7e KS. As others have noted, it's unclear what this is really about, though. The only computer game I know about that he put up on KS didn't fund, so that can't be it. And his board games have all brought in much higher sums than this...

    Morrus' Tavern Creator

Yes, there often seems to be a delay of some kind between when a article is posted here and when I can actually see it. It can't be a caching issue, because the pages are new. And refreshing doesn't help in my case. All I can do is try to remember to come back and read it later.

Who Hacks The Hack? Looking At The Black Hack Fantasy RPG

That's not what TBH has though. It's literally "roll under", if you roll equal you fail. I specifically asked the designer about this, so it's straight from the horse's mouth. Nothing stopping you from hacking the hack, of course...

Good grief, those are ugly. Welp, at least I'm saving some money.

The Most Straightforward Modern OSR Game Available?

So you do mean it literally? The reason it's unclear is not the text itself, but the context. You have to take into account the preconceptions readers bring with them. I think a lot of roleplayers more or less automatically will assume that a "roll low" system works on the concept of "target...

The Most Straightforward Modern OSR Game Available?

I immediately see an unclear point: is it literally "roll below", or do you mean "roll equal to or under"?

RuneQuest Design Notes; And Getting The Band Back Together

Was Future World ever a fully realized setting? I remember it more as just a name tacked on to a list of sci-fi appropriate skills and equipment.

RuneQuest Design Notes; And Getting The Band Back Together

AFAIK Ringworld was the only sci-fi setting actually published by Chaosium. But there have been sci-fi games with clearly BRP-inspired rules from other publishers. The one I remember best was Other Suns from FGU.

    ORCUS! EXCLUSIVE! ESCAPIST!

As long as he's not the pushover he was in 4e. Then again, my main issue with the fight in module E3 was probably not with his stats per se, but that the Fighter class was OP. Orcus got locked in melee with the tank and anytime he tried to do anything else he took an opportunity attack and fell...

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG Preview: The Multiverse

I was about to ask "retconned how?" but then I read the passage again and realized it's actually describing a ringworld. But the text still doesn't match the picture. It specifically says you can see "the far side of the city directly overhead", but in the picture that mountain would block such...

    D&D 5E (2014) DMG Preview: The Multiverse

Well, if they only want to have 3 subdivisions of fantasy, I'd say pulp is closer to heroic than it is to sword&sorcery. Edit: At least the kind of pulp that Eberron exemplifies, with lots of flashy magic and flashy combat. I'm well aware that historically, the first stories written in the S&S...
