D&D General What D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign?

I would argue that 8 medium encounters does not "sing" in 5E. It is likely to be tedious. I suppose there may be some specific combination of 8 medium encounters that one could make "sing" but it would have to be highly curated, which means it is a lot of work. This is to say that whatever the...

D&D General What D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign?

I'm not sure I see how 5E is especially dungeon focused. It is certainly heroic fantasy focused, and you can do that in a dungeon, but what rules in 5E make it hardcoded for dungeon play?

D&D General What D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign?

I am interested what you think in 2E mechanically is too story forward for dungeon crawling.

    Shadowdark Shadowdark General Thread [+]

I'll keep this thread updated. I have a sketch of a replacement for carousing called "office politics" that starts like this: OFFICE POLITICS MANEUVERS Cost Maneuver Bonus 30 gp Buy a tie in your manager’s favorite color. +0 100 gp Buy coffee for your department. +1 300 gp Order lunch...

    Shadowdark Shadowdark General Thread [+]

The "Power Lunch" idea is coming together. this is the draft of the con blurb: Every day is the same at evil megacorporation Orth, Inc: Spreadsheets. Meetings. TPS Reports. Or, it was until an unexpected trip on a restricted elevator took you down to a whole new world. Now you spend your lunch...

D&D General What D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign?

My idea is that the "torch timer" will be replaced by "lunch hour" and there will be consequences to being late back to your desk!

D&D General What D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign?

I am circling back to an old idea I had called "Power lunch" where the PCs are wage slaves at a corporation like Wolfram & Hart from Buffy that sits atop a hell mouth, which essentially leads to a megadungeon. They realize they can spend their lunch hour delving for things that will help them...

    D&D 5E (2024) One Store's Sales (D&D 2014 & 2024)

I am also a little surprised at how few (comparatively) copies the adventures sell -- even heavy hitters like Strahd. Huh. Neat. Thanks for sharing.

    D&D 5E (2024) One Store's Sales (D&D 2014 & 2024)

Is your historical data easily accessible? I am mostly interested in the curve of those 382 PHB sales, because I think that will tell us something about when the D&D spike really hit.

D&D General What D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign?

As a companion to the threead about non-D&D dungeon campaigns, I figured I would ask which D&D or D&D adjacent game (general) you would use for a dungeon centric campaign. That might be megadungeon exploration, a campaign full of 5 room dungeons, or anything in between. For this discussion, all...

What Non-D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign

That looks interesting. I am not a huge fan of the tarot card bit, but I would love to find a dungeon game that was more about the crawl than the combat.

What Non-D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign

Is there a quickstart for TB2E? I found a free introductory adventure, but it does not seem to have the rules of play included.

What Non-D&D Would You Use For A Dungeon Focused Campaign

Yeah, the Without Numbers games are superficially "OSR" ish, but I do think they count as very different from D&D-likes.

Wizards of the Coast Re-Registers Dark Sun With USPTO

I am not forgetting them. I am not counting them. Those books have FR info in them, but they aren't FR books as their primary purpose. Just because FR is the default setting of 5E does not mean everything counts as a setting guide.

Sure. But they aren't "Forgotten Realms Books."
