D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

But what if the player misbehaves at the table and then runs to their Bastion in real life?????? The DM can't do anything about it!

D&D General Bought a brick of the 50th Anniversary minis :(

I found these for $26. Seems like good quality sculpts, but unpainted. Here's a set for $27. Painted, but not as high quality.

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

I think it's great to have these rules, and as both a DM and player I think it's fantastic they are being clear about who is in charge of the narrative of the Bastions. As a DM, I want players to have narrative stakes in the games. I love the idea of players deciding who lives and works at...

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

If it doesn't fit your playstyle, don't use it. I love having players create and make decisions for parts of the game world. This is absolutely something I would use. This whole Bastions thing really seems to upset you.

D&D 5E (2024) Dungeon Master's Guide Bastion System Lets You Build A Stronghold

That's probably why they put it in the DMG. It's not expected to be in every game. It seems like WotC understands that Bastions should be optional and doesn't fit every campaign or playstyle.

New Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master's Guide Art and Details Revealed

The most important thing about the art of the new DMG is that somebody will get the last word.

New Dungeons & Dragons Dungeon Master's Guide Art and Details Revealed

Here's a crazy idea: Sometimes people view art differently, and interpret the same piece of art in a variety of ways! Anyways, the correct interpretation of the piece is that the Dragonborn rolled a 15 on his Stealth check so no one can see him.

D&D General D&D Expert In Your Pocket

I don't think you (or I) are the target audience. This is a kid's book. There are similar books published about Minecraft, Zelda, Pokemon, etc. I think the kids at my school would be really into this book! Colorful, organized in a fun way, a lot of info to read over again and again.

How Dragonbane Pointed out the Clashing Desires of My Gaming Group

I've read this a half-dozen times and I'm pretty sure it's a typo but it also works as is?

    What's with the image replies?

The only thing worse is when people just post YouTube videos as replies. To which I firmly say:

An appreciation for players who come up with great character names...

I play with a guy named Kevin who always comes up with amazing character names. In a FATE game about aliens and rebels, he had an alien spy named Jaguar Mirror. In a Dresden Files game set in San Francisco, he had a mystic street tough named Johnny Sausalito. In a long-term 5e game, he played...

Revenge of the Nerds 4th Anniversary Panel

Got it, thanks for clarifying! I have to say, it was very rewarding going down the rabbit hole of 1994 film releases. What a year!

Revenge of the Nerds 4th Anniversary Panel

I think this is an excuse that gets trotted out a lot but isn't always true. I think the majority of movies made any year are "products of their time," but 1984 in particular has a number of comedies that are still beloved and don't involve the protagonist winning the girl by pretending to be...

Vikings vs Dinosaurs: Creating a campaign setting for Ironsworn!

Ironsworn has a few mythic peoples in its core setting. I think you're right that I need to either drop or change elves. Here are my thoughts: Varou: wild wolf people. I'm changing them to snake people in the Green Hell. Giants: big stubborn people. I'm keeping them basically the same. Elves...

Players Don't Care About Your Setting

The last time I ran a game I had the players create the setting. I created a questionnaire inspired by Ironsworn. The players were super into it and had a real investment in the setting. I highly recommend it!
