WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

I think some of the customers wanted to hear that. 4E was a Nadir for the brand and looking at how the RPG team was reduced to a skeleton crew I'm not sure that if it wasn't for the OSR D&D wouldn't have laid fallow. 4E was a good game with some warts. Essentials fixed some of them but it needed...

WotC Ray Winninger Is Head of D&D RPG Team; Mike Mearls No Longer Works on RPG

I don't know if Mearls' absence if really news. I remember at some point in the last year or two that he accepted a job involving licensing at WotC. Maybe Stranger Things and Rick & Morty were part of that? Maybe Gozilla for Magic was part of that too? Ray is awesome and I'm a big fan of his. I...

Chaosium Releases Basic Role Playing SRD

And you cannot trademark game systems. The just appears to be a huge gaff to me.

Chaosium Releases Basic Role Playing SRD

Obviously, either those publishers overcame those feelings or were replaced by other publishers. What I'd like to know is why would I choose the BRP OGL over the Legend OGL? No, I can't use "Compatible with BRP" but I can create a "D100 Powered RPG" for people to use akin to the "5E Rules" logos...

Chaosium Releases Basic Role Playing SRD

OpenQuest 3 will be released outside of the OGL its been using from what I understan. The other thing to mention is that you can't trademark game systems. If I want a horror game with a d100 and I choose to use "Mental Health" instead of "Sanity" and I avoid the Mythos elements that they have...

Chaosium Releases Basic Role Playing SRD

If you want to publish a BRP-inspired game with an OGL, purchase Delta Green's new edition and use it.

[Chaosium] Harlem Unbound 2E: Chris Spivey's ENnie-winning Game is Back and Better!

Chris wrote a CoC Supers game for Chaosium using BRP. I hope they announce something about it soon.

    Dune RPG Details Emerge!

What I've encountered is that 2d20 plays far better than it reads. It's all very streamlined even though there are some bits and bobs in play. Within an hour our group had picked it up so well that you'd have thought we'd been playing it for years.

The One Ring/Adventures in Middle-earth License Goes to Free League

Serious question, isn't the show based on the artwork that inspired the game?

The One Ring/Adventures in Middle-earth License Goes to Free League

Right and its not like C7 didn't get praise for both games. Its not like one of those terrible slap the D20 logo on an existing game and publish it during the early 3E era.

The One Ring/Adventures in Middle-earth License Goes to Free League

Couldn't this still happen now that Cubicle 7 has lost the license? They could use the OGL to do this. I feel bad for C7, they put a lot of great work into both games. I think Free League are a good company, but they will have a very strong foundation to work from.

    Dune RPG Details Emerge!

By "manuscript" are you referring to the hardcovers that were released?

    Dune RPG Details Emerge!

Something I've learned about 2d20 is it plays better than it reads. I was worried about it's crunchiness but our whole group picked up easily and after an hour it was like we'd been playing it for ages.

Similar. No Mystic class. Only goes to level 20 with No mastery level in combat. It can easily use any of its adventures and racial classes.

I apologize for the tone of that. My frustration is with Hasbro/WotC. I should have conveyed that much, much better.

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Digital Plans To Be Revealed On February 21st

You realize that WotC already did 3 Star Wars RPGs right? None of those had D&D on them and I don't think a new one would if this occurred. But they did use the existing D&D engine or a variation thereof. Personally, I don't see that happening because WotC walked away from the license earlier...

    D&D 5E (2014) D&D Digital Plans To Be Revealed On February 21st

We will just have to agree to disagree, Lucasfilm was handpicked to run it by Lucas when Disney bought it, for good or bad. I just can't see Disney not wanting the brand leader for an RPG system.
