An Interview with Lawrence Whitaker of the Design Mechanism

It's been refreshing to see the Design Mechanism's release schedule in the last few years. I had grown so used to Chaosium's glacial schedule and it's great to see a d100 system performing well in the market.

Pathfinder 2E Playtest Four New Pathfinder 2E Classes

I will only comment on the stores I run in KY. Starfinder is outselling PF2 for us. We turn Starfinder about once a month. PF2 we turn about 1 every six weeks. Full disclosure: I'm sure many people are subscribing to Paizo and I'm sure that helps their bottom line. The customers who did...

Unearthed Arcana Poll: How will the US Class Feature Variants be brought to Market?

3.0 was in stores for 3 years. 3.5 was in stores for 5 years. It sold like crazy, but they released multiple hardcovers a month and competed with themselves the way TSR had in the past. 4 was in stores for 2 years and then Essentials was in store 2-3 years. If WotC had not been afraid of 4E...

Unearthed Arcana Poll: How will the US Class Feature Variants be brought to Market?

Do you play Magic: the Gathering? Are you aware of the changes they've been making? The increased schedule release? Hasbro only cares for it's bottom line. I don't know how you claim 3.5 was a failure? In my stores it sold for years as D&D and then for years as Pathfinder 1. And you seem to be...

Unearthed Arcana Poll: How will the US Class Feature Variants be brought to Market?

That option is 5.5, pure and simple. I've watched WotC do their darndest to destroy Magic: the Gathering at the local store level in the last 2 years. I don't trust them because of Hasbro has some kind of mandate, they will follow it. I do respect the team running D&D more than M:tG, but those...

Unearthed Arcana Poll: How will the US Class Feature Variants be brought to Market?

DnD 4E Essentials was 4.5. And 3.5 wasn't a disaster, it spawned Pathfinder. I think we just disagree and I'm content with that. I don't see them as exception-based, they are buffs to existing classes. Applying these changes is a big deal, IMO. If they are beginning to expand internationally...

Unearthed Arcana Poll: How will the US Class Feature Variants be brought to Market?

Respectfully, I disagree. I don't see the need for the enhancements otherwise.

So if I'm reading this correctly, if you don't wait for the compilations you miss out on material unique to them?

Critical Role Critical Role: Amazon Orders 2 Seasons Of The Legend Of Vox Machina

I meant no disrespect. The "AND" was like that in the main announcement. I find that I overlook stuff when I'm excited about a press release.

Unearthed Arcana Poll: How will the US Class Feature Variants be brought to Market?

That is what has me worried, the enhancements scream of 5.5, IMO. This is not a knock, but we've had such an influx of players in the last few years and it could be very confusing, like trying to decide between BECMI and AD&D when I was a kid.

They said: "AND because you’re a backer, you'll be able to access the first season for free. We’re still working out all of the logistical details and should have an update around how all of this will work in late 2020."

Unearthed Arcana New UA: 43 D&D Class Feature Variants

I completely agree with the Ranger, but with these other enhancements, the Ranger still lags behind. IMO, they decided to try to fix the Ranger but didn't stop there. I don't mind the new Fighting Styles, but the expanded spell lists don't feel right to me, I mean the Paladin can now cast...

Unearthed Arcana New UA: 43 D&D Class Feature Variants

I like the idea of alternate class features but, IMO, the enhancements are crazy. Too much power creep in enhancements.

    When Brands Play Games

And from my POV it is unsurprising because no matter what occurs someone on the internet seems to gain a thrill from attacking everything. A national food chain wanted to support possibly the leading marketer for D&D and do something fun. Wendy's Twitter account, for instance, has been well...

D&D General The Satanic Panic never really died?

It's sad, we home school and I had a fellow home school Dad nearly causing a 12 year old girl who had fallen in love with Harry Potter and reading to cry. I stepped in and pointed out Christianity isn't designed to make children cry.

Modiphius to Produce Vampire: The Masquerade Miniatures

I can see that. Understand, if someone wants to use minis, more power to them. I don't want to sound like there is only one way to play. And maybe Modiphius has been inundated with requests for them. I've just always found the World of Darkness to not require minis by default. In our game, we...
