What TTRPGs Excel At Not Having Combat?

I mean even on page 6 of posts he said… So even the existence of combat wasn’t discounted provided it was quick and non-tactical. Presumably decision based.

D&D General Has Tiny Hut actually affected your game? Or has it otherwise mattered?

Yes, @GuyBoy in Curse of Strahd negated the points-of-dim-light nature of the setting by making camp in the woods with tiny hut. It’s the reason the spell doesn’t exist in my games. He know it too 😉

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

Yeah exactly. See my suggestion for 3 alternative uses for legendary resistance.

What TTRPGs Excel At Not Having Combat?

With all due respect that isn’t what was asked… Reynard is of course free to change his mind but he asked for dramatic decision based RPGs that didn’t rely on action or combat and I gave him one that is famous for it.

What TTRPGs Excel At Not Having Combat?

That’s a bit rude. Why would you be baffled when I have just given you a full eight reasons why WFRP 4e excels as a game without combat. Maybe you aren’t familiar with the system. If you watch streaming games of WFRP such a Lawhammer or Garblag Games you will see several sessions go without...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

I do think have having solutions to combat situations that aren’t always death are not necessarily a bad thing. Death is a ‘full stop’ while resilient sphere, sleep, hold person, charm monster are a ‘…’

What TTRPGs Excel At Not Having Combat?

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 4e of course. A system with careers like herbalist, envoy, peasant and nun A well developed status system with impacts on social skills 3/4 of skills aren’t combat/movement based - lores, bribery, gossip, evaluation, intuition and many more. 2/3 of talents aren’t...

D&D General Mike Mearls says control spells are ruining 5th Edition

My suggestion would be instead of using legendary resistance to shut down a players success instead use it to give the creature a suite of options. The legendary creature can use a point of legendary resistance at any time to do one of the following… Ignore the effect of one condition until...

D&D General Forgotten Realms Book preview from NYCC

Absolutely. It was probably my favorite time in the Dales. Though there’s been a Zhent invasion of shadowdale pretty much every edition so take your pick! I’m toying with the idea of having a different adventure in each Dale but I think that might be too artificial.

D&D 5E (2014) Dungeons of Drakkenheim: a dark fantasy sandbox in a ruined city

Or move all the factions inside the walls. Create a safe haven in the walls. Alter the haze slightly and run it as a Bloodborne’s Old Yarnham. You could even move the whole city to Ravenloft and give it even more horror element. How did the scholars of the Amethyst Order summon the meteor and...

D&D General Forgotten Realms Book preview from NYCC

Love Raiders. It was actually the first adventure I ever ran for the face to face group I DM for. As part of a one off at a 4 day ‘con’ at @GuyBoy ‘s house some 22 years ago. I didn’t realize there was a sequel though 😱 that is awesome! My plan is a Dalelands war/politics campaign The Zhents...

D&D General Forgotten Realms Books Tables of Contents

So basically the books are everything I hoped for and more. Excellent. Will be interesting to see where these sit in the range of 5e books released to date. It sounds like they have excised the lingering spirits of SCAG. Can wait to get my copies in a couple of weeks and for the Foundry release.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

Or as discussed earlier and in this thread Adventures in Ubersreik published by Cubicle 7 for WFRP 4e [Spoilers] The started set for 4e is a brilliant product that is largely edition agnostic.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

Honestly it depends. I personally think Core requires Winds of Magic and Up in Arms to play well. Unless you plan on getting those as well I would hold off and pay the extra $15 for the completed article. That said it is a beautiful and well made book so if you just want it so you have it, may...

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

If you do there are so many really good small original adventures released by C7. Worth checking out one of the Ubersreik Adventures books. Great for 4-6 hours of gaming each.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 5th Edition Is Coming in 2026

There is actually a small team of folks doing the programming and updating. There’s a hell of a lot though either way. Every new product for 5 ranges. Plus every time Foundry updates the 60 or so products released already need updating too. It’s a labour of love. You forget when you buy a...

D&D 5E (2024) Diseases no longer curable with lesser restoration

Similar contagions to the previous edition are in the DMG. There are three examples and two of them (Sewer Plague for instance) key off Exhaustion not Poisoned. They’re separate to curses.

D&D 5E (2024) Diseases no longer curable with lesser restoration

So interesting spin off from my medicine thread. Magical diseases, despite very much being a thing in the game are no longer curable with lesser restoration. Only greater restoration will cure the exhaustion which most of the seem to key off, which makes curing diseases much harder than before...
