Eberron: Forge of the Artificer Page Count, Contents Revealed

Excited for this. Going to have another go at porting across all the amazing Ancient Civilization/Giants/Runelords stuff from Paizo’s Varissia setting and the various Runelords campaigns. My plan is to place Sandpoint in South East Zilargo and the Swallowtail festival instead of being a quaint...

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

Oh wow, I definitely got the wrong end of the stick then. I probably got a bit confused with the discussion of 5mwd and the video talking about Long Rests. Your problem is that there are too many short rests in 2024? Wow. Not sure what to say. It seems to run so counter to the typical...

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

Whenever someone translates a rule into real pley the data is anecdotal. However the rules are clear: maximum of once every 24 hours, can be interrupted by combat, casting spells, and exertion and for most races needs to be a location where you can successfully sleep.I’m pretty sure it’s been...

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

I don’t agree that 5MWD can be forced on anyone. This isn’t Baldurs gate 1 and resting doesn’t happen when players press the spacebar. It has to make sense in the fiction.

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

We’re comparing Cantrip to single attacks and leveled spells to the relevant number of multiple attacks. Not doing that is comparing a caster’s fall back to a martial’s main vehicle for affecting the world.

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

It’s worth noting that the cantrip comparison was made to avoid folks saying a low levels fighters will be doing this all times while casters are limited to slots. At the point at which fighters are getting 2+ attacks, cantrips become rarer and leveled spells are much more common affecting many...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

Those spells like Synaptic Static, Slow, Moonbeam and Burning Hands have been demanding far more saves at their respective level than a masteries equivalent saves. Affecting more than one thing in a round feels like a harsh judgement. Of course a lot depends on party make up. Only a couple of...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

I’ll go a step further and say that my single biggest gripe with the 5e system is the fact that actors have been reduced to bags of hp. Finally there are accessible non-spell ways to affect foes in combat in new ways rather than simple chipping away at their hp.

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

it’s entirely a matter of taste. I think the new rules are much more than that, but I accept it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I think it’s ok to have different classes operate differently and be better or worse in different circumstances. Players get to choose their class as they like. I don’t...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

I’ve never understood the problem with martial’s causing saves through their actions or inflicting disadvantage, movement penalties etc. Casters have been doing it with cantrips for 10 years. I just don’t get it.

They obviously don’t want to play a monk then.

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

It’s funny because those were a lot of the things I liked about the new edition. Along with the bastions, new monk, the new monsters and a lot of the new subclasses. Oh and the new grappling. One man’s meat is another man’s poison. It must be really tough designing a game for a broad church.

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

Just for the record it doesn’t add a save to every attack. It doesn’t apply to attacks that miss It doesn’t apply to attacks that hit creatures that are already prone (possibly because you have multiple attacks) It doesn’t apply to attacks that kill their target. It doesn’t apply when the...

D&D General Weapon Mastery - Yea or Nay?

Yay. Finally makes weapons more interesting than how much damage they do. A great addition to the game.

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

I did say that this was my anecdotal experience based on the 15 or so people I game with regularly.

D&D General Did 5e 2024 Not meet the economic goals set, and if not, why not?

Eberron and Forgotten Realms players books don’t strike me as weird. In fact they seem pretty base line and a good place to start. Yet I would say there is plenty of room to develop there. Honestly our multiple groups have found 2024 to be a straight upgrade on 2014. I get why casual players...

Trying out WFRP 4e - Ubersreik Days and Nights [+]

Your landing pages look amazing and sounds brilliant. I’m trying to link in the session recap into it to make the most of time.

Trying out WFRP 4e - Ubersreik Days and Nights [+]

So at the end of the session we go round each player one at a time and they say if they have done something or behaved in a way that fits their motivation and if they have they get 50 XP. They also get to say something they have learned about the world or developed something non-combat based in...

What Is Your Go-To Pick-Up TTRPG?

No surprises here, I would go with WFRP 4e. For a single 4 hour session I would run one of the classics… The Pig, the Witch and her Lover Night of Blood The Oldenhaller Contract. If Looks Could Kill.
