Christmas Comes to the Troll Dens!

If anyone is looking for a great system that you can modify easily to fit your group then I would highly recommend giving C&C a look. It is, hands down, my favorite RPG. Join the Crusade!

    Switch?

If the abdence of mechanical character options doesn't bother your group then I would check out Castles & Crusades. Love it.

    Gen Con Expands!

I went to Gen Con this summer and while I am happy I finally went I don't believe I would go again. The convention, in my mind, is VASTLY better when you are within walking distance of the action. I can check this off my nerd list underneath visiting Games Workshop's Nottingham HQ and meeting...

How many people do you know who haven't switched to 5e, and why haven't they?

My group is still solidly in Pathfinder land. I think our brand loyalty to D&D could easily see us switch if WotC actually put some stuff out that isn't an adventure.

    PATHFINDER COMBAT PAD Returns

I'll wait until it appear on ye olde amazon. I have some credit saved up.

    Official Metal PATHFINDER DICE?

Neat idea, but i don't think I could ever roll them at a game, full force, and be able to look whoever's house we are playing at in the eye as I destroy their table.

[UPDATED] WotC To Close Forums - Including D&D and M:tG (aka "Welcome New Forum Members to EN World!

Agreed. In regards to digital versions I am sure WotC would cite piracy, but I would postulate that the people who would pirate will do so and find a way to do so via scans etc. But to slightly be on topic I don't believe that closing down their forums was a super great move from a marketing...

[UPDATED] WotC To Close Forums - Including D&D and M:tG (aka "Welcome New Forum Members to EN World!

I'd easily pay $15-$20 per issue for a physical magazine with quality 5E content. I like digital stuff as much as the next guy and read loads of books on my iPad, but that's as a supplement to the paper versions. Sadly Dragon+ is a supplement to nothing.

Ah Gleemax, that place was a veritable ghost town even at "launch".

Technically that is still a valid review.

[UPDATED] WotC To Close Forums - Including D&D and M:tG (aka "Welcome New Forum Members to EN World!

When I read the e-mail Morru sent out a little bit ago about this I was a little shocked. I immediately thought of how Games Workshop shut down their message boards because they didn't know how to handle that communication medium properly. After having thought about it a little more, I suppose...

D&D 5E (2014) Trevor Kidd tweets on the closing of the Wizards forums

I'm surprised, but I suppose I understand the logic behind the decision.

Fantasy Flight Games Acquires LEGEND OF THE FIVE RINGS

When I first read this news I was a little taken aback. However, on further reflection is probably is the best way to save the game(s) and the brand. I always felt like the L5R CCG was a gem hidden among the weeds, but it does have an extremely steep learning curve. Here's to a new L5R!

RPG Evolution: Will LEGO Ever Replace Miniatures?

I've heard of people supplementing their games with Legos, but not replacing their other miniatures and scenery with them. I prefer to do 2.5D stuff a la DM'S Craft. http://youtu.be/B4a4m_FPuww

When LONE WOLF's Joe Dever Met TABLETOP'S Wil Wheaton

Very cool. My friend almost ran right into Wheaton at one point when we were walking by the concession area. It's cool to see him there just being a gamer (for the most part) and I was surprised that the times I did see him that no one was trying to mob him for photos or signatures.

How Much Gaming Took Place At Gen Con?

Yeah, the Paizo gaming area was massive compared to the Baldman Games area. Noticeably so. If you count the Pathfinder Card Game tables it was pretty a big difference. I didn't do any D&D games this year, but I cringed when I went by their tables because that hall is just so loud.

    Good Audiobooks

We'll be listening to the first Game of Thrones book. We have both read it, but it's more for background noise. The BBC Radio adaption of the Lord of the Rings is really good if you have never heard it. Don't have a particular opinion on any inherently D&D ones though.

Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide: The First Official D&D 5E Setting

I just don't think this is what's happening. They've said in a recent D&D podcast (I believe the one before the most recent) how they are continuing forward with a slow release schedule for the foreseeable future. Believe me I will be more than willing to eat my words, but I think that WotC...

Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide: The First Official D&D 5E Setting

By that same measure I could say that the views of the "pro slow release" folks are subjective opinions and thus don't equate to the truth. But here it is: Are you truly telling me that WotC should focus on licensing, cut down their D&D staff to bare bones and release only 3 - 4 products a year...

Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide: The First Official D&D 5E Setting

Completely agree. I get that people really like the small amount of content that has come out so far, but what I don't get is their defense of WotC's paltry release schedule and almost complete lack of variety; except in what big bad you are going after in that period's epic adventure. The...
