You had me at spelless ranger.... But seriously a less magic version of 5e is the dream.

US Tariffs: $80-$200 Surcharge On All Packages Regardless of Price

Not enough D&D adventure start of with a hook about smuggling. Which is a good one as it explains why a higher level party was hired, and gets them taking back roads through the wilderness or that out of the way weird cultish village.

D&D 5E (2014) Ben Riggs talks to Richard Baker. Phandelver in 2018 alone sold 300k copies.

I dismissed it when it first came out, never gave it a chance. Once I finally read it in the 5e re-release it was much better than I assumed it would be.

    Accountability thread for Squarecrawl 2025

Maybe the delays are because you've been. Converting everything to Dagger Heart? To capitalize on the new hotness?

For a starter adventure it is head and shoulders above anything I have seen for any system ever. For a adventure made by WOTC it is better than the typical railroads. Heck even Bryce recommend it. https://tenfootpole.org/ironspike/?p=2469

Its the best adventure for D&D writen in the last 20 years, maybe since Nights Dark Terror? So I believe it. I own 4 copies. Just to make sure I have unopened copies to give to my kids in 20 years. The fact WOTC didn't do it justice in the hardback reissue is a tragedy.

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

Maybe someone at Paizo? I dont really pay attention to them, but they put out a decent amount of long form adventures. I know each part is an individual author. But im sure someone is the lead. Im not the target audience, but Im not sure i would say any of the long form adventures are great...

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

I think it is inevitable. They have ten years of feedback to fix and modify it, and they know it will sell. That said, they messed up the redo of Lost Mines so maybe for the best if they don't. 🤷

D&D 5E (2024) When are we getting announcements for 2026 books?

I think there is value in presenting a setting built for 5.24e ( whichlight or radiant citadel) versus trying to retro the default assumptions of the new system into settings built for 1e. Ravenloft is too popular for them not revise/revisit/rerealease at some point in the 5.24 cycle.

Other D&D Variant Domain play, what, if anything, do you use?

I built a whole system of homebrew domain play for my characters in a 5e campaign and my party was not interested at all in the idea, they just wanted to keep exploring the sandbox... Maybe that's why there are not more robust system? Most players dont care about it? Honestly I was excited...

What are your thoughts on TTRPGs with non-standard dice?

I always struggle with understanding calculating the odds and impact of my choices when presented with the above. I think its a cool mechanic but I often worry im making suboptimal choices.

What are your thoughts on TTRPGs with non-standard dice?

I've never bought a RPG with special dice. So I guess i am against them. I would by a game that needs a d25 or uses a d7 dice pool. But if its needs dice with special symbols or something count me out.

Worlds of Design: The Problem with Space Navies, Part 1

The 30mm auto cannon has a much cooler sound so that alone cements the decision.

AD&D 2E First example of official max hp at first level?

I like the option for Fighter, gives them an edge. Paladins and Rangers already get so much extra....

Champions of Chaos, a New Warhammer: Age of Sigmar TTRPG, Announced

I expect the book to be released as a bunch of loose paper and rules jotted down on cocktail napkins stuffed in a doodled on coffee stained folder. CHAOS!!!!!

OSR OSR-inspired video game, The Secret of Weepstone, has a trailer

Them goblins are straight out of the 1e monster manual. 80s D&D didn't have "crits" but im assuming this DM houserulled them in. Now if they can just make it smell like a basement and change the music to a mix of Led Zeplin and Rush.....

D&D General WotC: 'Of Course We're Going To Do' Baldur's Gate 4

Occasionally these things work out. If you get enough talented fans of the third one working on the fourth one then maybe they refuse to let it fail. I thinks its healthy to be skeptical, but its also not impossible for someone else to recreate the formula.
