Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

You mean like the divine soul sorceror and celestial warlock? Or the genie warlock and the genie paladin? Or the bladesinger wizard and eldritch knight fighter?

He dies offscreen between Gortash's coronation and when you show up to fight him. You can find his corpse in the assembly hall.

Do we really need to care about books being "in print" in the 21st century? You can buy or get all the content digitally, oftentimes directly from WotC.

Circle Casting Details Revealed for Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerun

Presumably in combat you'd need to ready your magic actions and use your reactions to ensure they all happen at once.

Not for nothing, but it was Canada, rather than the two titans of empire the UK and the US, that produced McLuhan.

IIRC Portyr straight up always dies in BG3 during Gortash's coup, but he's a very easily missable NPC.

Some people have noted that Stelmane is apparently back to life and maybe even fully healed from her stroke. Which, tbh... makes sense to me. Someone like Stelmane should be able to afford a priest to cast greater restoration or has a diamond stashed away to have her brought back to life.

The previous lore was itself a retcon, the original dragonborn were humanoids who underwent a kinky unbirthing ritual in the name of Bahamut and emerged shiny and chrome. Who's to say people weren't doing that on Toril in the Dawn Age?

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

I guess the thing is, I do like weird creepy gem dragons... I just think the purple dragons of Cormyr are the furthest you could get from creepy, weird and alien. They're two great tastes that, I personally, don't feel go well together; chocolate and cilantro rather than chocolate and peanut...

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

I said it elsewhere, but I'm fine with the PDKs being a dragon riding order, but them specifically using amethyst dragons is the issue. And here the lore explicitly says the dragon-riding PDKs are inspired by the dragonriders of Krynn, I once again wonder why we couldn't have gotten metallic...

For those who have the book, is there literally anything to be said about Laerakond or Abeir?

I'm using the Order of Delvers in my current campaign, surprised they (and maybe Earthheart?) get a mention since they're pretty obscure.

Purple Dragon Knight Retooled as Banneret in D&D's Heroes of Faerun Book

I don't know if it's a joke or not but someone posted on Ed Greenwood's personal discord that Eldenser had a vision of dragonriders from Krynn and got inspired to turn the PDKs into something like that.

The drakewarden is still there for those who wanted it.

They specifically joined the civil war on the side of abolitionists. The mortal-ruled parts of Calimshan replaced slavery with industrialization, it's the genies who still own slaves IIRC.

The 2024 PHB includes firearms. It's been part of FR's identity for a while that gunpowder doesn't work on the planet by decree of the god Gond, and "smokepowder" replaces gunpowder but it is much rarer and more expensive. Are firearms more common in the realms now, and if so, is anything said...

Apparently the Syl-Pasha/Sultana of Calimshan fought a civil war with an army of Dragonborn mercenaries, so the new magitech genie ruled Calimshan could also be a population center for Dragonborn now that Tymanther is reduced.
